Wavelength conversion architectures in OBS networks
NOMS 2008 - 2008 IEEE Network Operations and Management Symposium, 2008Most studies about Optical Burst Switched (OBS) networks have assumed availability of full wavelength conversion throughout the network. In an optical network with full wavelength conversion capability, every output on each node is provided with a wavelength converter, resulting in the lowest bound for blocking probability.

Service differentiation scheme in OBS networks
Photonic Network Communications, 2007In order to achieve service differentiation, especially loss differentiation, in optical burst switching (OBS) networks, we propose a dynamic fiber delay line (FDL) partitioning algorithm, which divides FDLs into several groups over a feed-forward output buffering architecture.

Port modularized scheduling for OBS Network
SPIE Proceedings, 2005Optical Burst Switching (OBS) is a promising solution for next generation all-optical WDM networks. It combines the benefits of both optical packet switching and wavelength routing while taking into account the limitation of current all-optical technology.

Analysis of OBS Networks With Limited Wavelength Conversion
IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, 2006Presented herein is a scalable framework for estimating path blocking probabilities in optical burst switched (OBS) networks where limited wavelength conversion is possible. Although presented under the guise of OBS, it is pertinent to a broader class of optical networks based on the principle of bufferless unacknowledged switching.

Designing an Optimal Scheduler Buffer in OBS Networks
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2008In this paper, we dimension a buffer in which headers are enqueued before processing in an optical burst switching (OBS) network. For the first time, we develop and analyze a unified OBS model comprising a set of homogeneous and independent edge buffers that feed bursts to a standalone link and their headers to a scheduler.

Service-oriented network management system on OBS ring network
SPIE Proceedings, 2007With the development of diversity requirements, researches on service management based on QoS guaranteed have been paid more and more attention. On the perspective of service-orientation, this paper presents an integrated suite of network management system on optical burst switching (OBS) ring network, which combines network services and management ...

An OBS RWA formulation for asynchronous loss-less transfer in OBS networks
2009 International Conference on High Performance Switching and Routing, 2009Optical Burst Switching (OBS) has been proposed to increase the resource utilization achieved by Optical Circuit Switching (OCS), which is impaired by its coarse granularity. A crucial step toward OBS maturity deals with the feature of lossless guaranteed transfers.

A new priority strategy for OBS networks
Asia Communications and Photonics Conference 2013, 2013We evaluate the performance of a combination of burst segmentation, Emulated-OBS and least remaining hop-count first priority algorithm in optical burst switching networks based on the criteria of effective utilization and goodput.

Modelling of Control Plane in OBS Networks
2007 9th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2007In this paper we address the problem of control plane operation and its impact on the performance of optical burst switching networks (OBS). In a poorly-engineered network the congestion in control plane may delay excessively the processing of control packets in an electronic core-node controller and as a result lead to the loss of data bursts.

DDoS flooding attacks in OBS networks
2012 7th International Forum on Strategic Technology (IFOST), 2012In various assessments of potential intrusions in modern networks, the flooding-based DDoS attack takes center stage. The main purpose of this paper has been to review DDoS flooding attacks in optical burst switching networks and analyze their impact. A set of optical network protocol vulnerabilities have been identified.
