The dual nature of TDC – bridging dendritic and T cells in immunity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
TDC are hematopoietic cells combining dendritic and T cell features. They reach secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs) and peripheral organs (liver and lungs) after FLT3‐dependent development in the bone marrow and maturation in the thymus. TDC are activated and enriched in SLOs upon viral infection, suggesting that they might play unique immune roles, since

Leveraging current insights on IL‐10‐producing dendritic cells for developing effective immunotherapeutic approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In vivo IL‐10 produced by tissue‐resident tolDC is involved in maintaining/inducing tolerance. Depending on the agent used for ex vivo tolDC generation, cells acquire common features but prime T cells towards anergy, FOXP3+ Tregs, or Tr1 cells according to the levels of IL‐10 produced. Ex vivo‐induced tolDC were administered to patients to re‐establish/

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Beyond the Observable

open access: yesLanguage and Literacy: A Canadian Educational e-journal
This research focuses on one teacher’s lived experience as he contributes towards a broader understanding of possibilities and constraints afforded by technologies, materials, and relationality during this recent shift in pandemic pedagogy. The pandemic

Detecting Social Interactions in Bivariate Probit Models with an Endogenous Dummy Variable

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2009
This paper analyzes the possibility of detecting observable and non-observable social interactions in a bivariate probit model with an endogenous dummy regressor via Monte Carlo simulation.

Conditioned Observables in Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This paper presents some of the basic properties of conditioned observables in finite-dimensional quantum mechanics. We begin by defining the sequential product of quantum effects and use this to define the sequential product of two observables.

The immunological interface: dendritic cells as key regulators in metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

On the complementarity of the quadrature observables [PDF]

open access: yesFound. Phys. 40 (2010) 1419-1428, 2009
In this paper we investigate the coupling properties of pairs of quadrature observables, showing that, apart from the Weyl relation, they share the same coupling properties as the position-momentum pair. In particular, they are complementary. We determine the marginal observables of a covariant phase space observable with respect to an arbitrary ...

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Guaranteed Performance Nonlinear Observer for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A geometric nonlinear observer algorithm for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) developed on the Lie group of \mathbb{SLAM}_{n}\left(3\right) is proposed. The presented novel solution estimates the vehicle's pose (i.e. attitude and position) with respect to landmarks simultaneously positioning the reference features in the global frame.
