Analysis of ELVES at the Pierre Auger Observatory

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
In the last six years, the Fluorescence Detector (FD) of the Auger Observatory has been exploited for the study of transient luminous events occuring high above thunderstorms at large distances (250 to more than 1000 km) from the Observatory.

Observatories in Space

open access: yes, 2010
Space observatories are having major impacts on our knowledge of the Universe, from the Solar neighborhood to the cosmological background, opening many new windows out of reach to ground-based observatories. Celestial objects emit all over the electromagnetic spectrum, and the Earth's atmosphere blocks a large part of them.

Patient's Perspective on the Impact of Psoriasis on Their Quality of Life After 1 Year of Tildrakizumab Treatment: Despite Clinical Improvement, Persistence of a Potential Mental Cicatricial Memory of the Disease

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
In this real‐life study, tildrakizumab confirmed its efficacy in treating moderate‐to‐severe psoriasis, including challenging areas. Despite good disease control, some patients expressed dissatisfaction, highlighting the cumulative mental burden of delayed effective treatment and underscoring the mental scars left by psoriasis, persisting even after ...

Ice thickness regulates heat flux in permanently ice‐covered lakes

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract The permanently ice‐covered lakes of Taylor Valley, Antarctica, are rare ecosystems where permanent ice cover and year‐round vertically stable water columns provide critical redox zones for cold‐adapted microorganisms. Using 30 yr of limnological data from the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long‐Term Ecological Research program, we assessed the water ...

Observations and Publications in the VO: Is the VO Only for Big Science? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The Virtual Observatory (VO) got started by Big Science projects. We can ask: is the VO an exclusive tool to handle big catalogs from large surveys? We think the VO should contain information from journals, other publications, and non-survey, ``Little ...

Phytoplankton iron limitation in the Atlantic Southern Ocean driven by seasonal mixed‐layer dynamics

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, EarlyView.
Abstract Phytoplankton blooms in the Southern Ocean (SO) are seasonally limited by light and micronutrients. As such, regional variations in iron supply from mixed‐layer winter entrainment are expected to impact the extent of seasonal iron limitation. Here, we determined seasonal iron limitation in the Atlantic SO by conducting iron addition incubation

Unprecedented warming and salinization observed in the deep Adriatic

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, EarlyView.
Abstract The deep Southern Adriatic is a Mediterranean region highly sensitive to climate change, influenced by dense water cascading from the northern Adriatic and heat/salt transport from the Eastern Mediterranean. Historical (since 1957) and modern (permanent and opportunistic temperature and salinity sampling, Argo floats, fixed moorings ...
