PHYSICAL AND BIOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS ON HERPESVIRUS [PDF]
Smith, KendallO. (Baylor University College of Medicine, Houston, Texas). Physical and biological observations on herpesvirus. J. Bacteriol.86:999–1009. 1963.—The development of herpesvirus in human lung fibroblasts was studied by plaque assays and physical particle counts. Approximately 200 infectious units and 60,000 particles were produced by single

Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

In this note, we explain how asymptotically globally AdS spacetimes can be given an alternate dual description as entangled states of a pair of hyperbolic space CFTs, which are associated with complementary Rindler wedges of the AdS geometry. The reduced

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Probing de Sitter from the horizon
In a QFT on de Sitter background, one can study correlators between fields pushed to the future and past horizons of a comoving observer. This is a neat probe of the physics in the observer’s causal diamond (known as the static patch).

In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

The Arrow of Time in Quantum Theory
In Classical Mechanics, time is reversible, i.e., it implies no particular choice: only the observer knows in which direction it flows. The present article re-examines whether this remains true in Quantum Mechanics.

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Factorization and escorting in the game-theoretical approach to non-extensive entropy measures
The game-theoretical approach to non-extensive entropy measures of statistical physics is based on an abstract measure of complexity from which the entropy measure is derived in a natural way.
