Endothelial damage and complement dysregulation in fetuses from pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 829-838, May 2025.
Preeclampsia fetuses show an altered profile of endothelial damage and complement biomarkers, like increased adhesion molecules, prothrombotic state, oxidative stress, and reduced complement membrane attack complex deposition on endothelial cells. Abstract Introduction Our objective was to evaluate the endothelial function profile and complement system

Reframing spontaneous preterm birth as a preventable adverse outcome—A clinical audit of a preventative toolbox

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 906-912, May 2025.
The majority of women who experience spontaneous preterm birth do not have recognized risk factors, and are not identified by current screening methods. Adherence to current recommendations for prediction and prevention of preterm birth is suboptimal. Abstract Introduction Spontaneous preterm birth is a major cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality ...

Trends in the use of induction of labor by methods and indications: A population‐based study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 875-885, May 2025.
The rate of induction of labor in Victoria increased between 2012 and 2020, notably at 38 and 39 weeks'. Significant changes were observed in induction methods and indications with gestational diabetes and fetal indications emerging as major drivers. Abstract Introduction Induction of labor is a widely used obstetric intervention, with rates increasing

Even low levels of anticardiolipin antibodies are associated with pregnancy‐related complications: A monocentric cohort study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 897-905, May 2025.
The impact of low aCL levels on the course of gestation remains unclear. Our study confirmed a higher incidence of pregnancy‐related complications in low‐titer aCL pregnancies, but only in the case of IgG antibody isotype presence. Abstract Introduction Moderate and high levels of anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL), especially in the setting of the ...

Influence of instrument choice on fear of childbirth after assisted vaginal delivery: A secondary analysis of the Bergen birth study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 886-896, May 2025.
Assisted vaginal delivery was not associated with a higher risk of secondary fear of childbirth compared with spontaneous vaginal delivery. Both forceps and vacuum seem to be equally accepted by the parturient. Women with a secondary fear of childbirth are more likely to prefer Cesarean delivery in a potential subsequent pregnancy.
