On the relation between lifting obstructions and ordinary obstructions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
We consider partial liftings of maps at fibrations and compare the primary obstruction to extend the lifting with the obstruction to extend the lifting as a simple map into the total space. A relation between these two obstructions is proved for the case when the fiber is an Eilenberg-MacLane space.

Understanding how on‐farm biosecurity perceptions and practices of New South Wales sheep producers have been impacted by the 2022 foot‐and‐mouth disease outbreak in Indonesia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Foot‐and‐mouth disease (FMD) is a highly infectious transboundary emergency animal disease posing a significant threat to the global economy. Australia strengthened border security following the 2022 FMD outbreak in Indonesia allocating resources to promote biosecurity awareness and engagement.

Rectoanal intussusception is very common in patients with fecal incontinence

open access: yesJournal of the Anus, Rectum and Colon, 2018
Objectives: Fecal incontinence (FI) is a multifactorial disorder, the etiology of which is not fully understood. Recent data have shown the significance of rectoanal intussusception (RAI) in the evaluation of FI.

Approach to the Management of Gastrointestinal Manifestations in Patients With Phaeochromocytoma and Paraganglioma

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Managing gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with phaeochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL) is challenging due to the risk of catecholaminergic crisis with many commonly prescribed medications, especially in functional tumours.

Descending Perineum Associated With Pelvic Organ Prolapse Treated by Sacral Colpoperineopexy and Retrorectal Mesh Fixation: Preliminary Results

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2018
Introduction and hypothesis: Descending Perineum Syndrome (DPS) is a coloproctologic disease and the best treatment for it is yet to be defined. DPS is frequently associated with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and it is reasonable to postulate, that ...

Obstructions of Connectivity 2 for Embedding Graphs into the Torus [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
The complete set of minimal obstructions for embedding graphs into the torus is still not determined. In this paper, we present all obstructions for the torus of connectivity 2. Furthermore, we describe the building blocks of obstructions of connectivity 2 for any orientable surface.

Topological characterization of canonical Thurston obstructions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Let f be an obstructed Thurston map with canonical obstruction \Gamma_f. We prove the following generalization of Pilgrim's conjecture: if the first-return map F of a periodic component C of the topological surface obtained from the sphere by pinching the curves of \Gamma_f is a Thurston map then the canonical obstruction of F is empty.
