Maternal mortality due to obstructed labor
International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1997An analysis of 36 maternal deaths due to obstructed labor indicates the impact of young maternal age on obstructed labor. These 36 deaths were among the 95 maternal deaths recorded at Mansa General Hospital in Zambia from August 1 1993 to July 31 1995. In 89% of cases of obstructed labor the main cause was cephalopelvic disproportion. 28 women (78%)
