First Experience of an Undergraduate Dental Student with a Reciprocating System in Simulated Root Canals—A Pilot Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Rotary instrumentation has been proposed in undergraduate teaching. The aim of this study was to evaluate student’s performance, through the obturation quality and treatment time, in a sequential range of L-simulated root canals.

Comparison of instrumentation time and obturation quality between hand K-file, H-files, and rotary Kedo-S in root canal treatment of primary teeth: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, 2019
Introduction: Pulpectomy has been a treatment of choice in all necrotic primary teeth. Advancing technology has brought the rotary system to reduce the manual dexterity and improve the quality of treatment for pulpectomy.

Hydraulic (Single Cone) Versus Thermogenic (Warm Vertical Compaction) Obturation Techniques: A Systematic Review

open access: yesCureus
Root canal treatment (RCT) involves cleaning and shaping of the root canal system before filling the canals with obturating materials, often gutta-percha (GP).

Strangulated obturator hernia [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2014
A frail 60-year-old woman presented with a 5-day history of pain in the abdomen, constipation, vomiting and abdominal distension. There was no history of surgery or tuberculosis. On examination, the abdomen was distended and non-tender. The hernial sites were normal. On auscultation, hyperperistaltic bowel sounds were present.

Evaluation of various obturation techniques with bioceramic sealers in 3D-printed C-shaped canals

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
This in vitro study compared various obturation techniques with bioceramic sealers for filling C-shaped 3D-printed replicas. A mandibular molar with a C-shaped root canal with a C1 configuration was obtained.

Root Canal Obturation by Electrochemical Precipitation of Calcium Phosphates

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Achieving adequate disinfection and preventing reinfection is the major goal in endodontic treatment. Variation in canal morphology and open porosity of dentine prevents achieving complete disinfection.

Chemical Stability and Bond Strength of Endodontic Sealers Exposed to Acidic, Alkaline and Protein‐Rich Environments: An In Vitro Investigation

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The sealing performance of endodontic sealers may be influenced by environmental factors such as pH and blood‐derived proteins. This in vitro study evaluated the effects of pH variation and protein contamination on calcium ion (Ca2+) release and push‐out bond strength (BS) of a calcium silicate‐based sealer (Bio‐C Sealer) and an epoxy resin ...

Influence of Drying Protocol on the Setting and Crystalline Phase Formation of Calcium Silicate‐Based Sealers

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to assess the hydration, crystalline structure, and setting of bioceramic ready‐to‐use and powder/liquid sealers in dry and wet root canal dentine. Thirty‐two single‐rooted human teeth were embedded in acrylic resin and sectioned into 2‐mm segments.

Selective Root Canal Retreatment: A Scoping Review and Metasynthesis by Thematic Analysis

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Selective root canal retreatment preserves well‐filled canals by treating only roots showing clinical or imaging evidence of failure, providing a minimally invasive alternative to conventional full retreatment. This scoping review, supported by metasynthesis through thematic analysis, synthesised clinical and imaging evidence in multirooted ...

Obturation quality of bioceramic sealers with different obturation techniques: a micro-CT evaluation

open access: yesScientific Reports
This micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) analysis in vitro study was designed to compare void volume in root canal fillings performed using the single-cone (SC) technique and the continuous wave condensation (CWC) technique with bioceramic (BC) sealer ...
