Comparison of treatment pathways for isolated mesh associated pain syndrome (I‐MAPS) secondary to pelvic mesh devices for stress urinary incontinence (SUI)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The aim of this retrospective observational cohort study was to compare the outcome of surgical, combined and non‐surgical pathways of isolated mesh associated pain syndrome (I‐MAPS) following insertion of a single continence tape. Methods Women with a single continence tape who experienced I‐MAPS accessing the service between 2018 ...

A Pain in the Buttocks: Practice Article for Sonographically Imaging the Quadratus Femoris and Ischiofemoral Impingement

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Hip external rotation can cause compression of the quadratus femoris (QF) between the ischial tuberosity and lesser trochanter of the femur, resulting in pain in the buttock, hip, and groin which can radiate down the leg. Ultrasound imaging can demonstrate dynamic impingement of the QF, including symptom provocation.

Morphology of obturator nerve

open access: yes
We believe that the morphometric data of the obturator nerve will be enlightening to the operating surgeon during the procedures like obturator nerve block, nerve transplantation and obturator nerve repair.

Pelvic Exenteration for Cervical Cancer: Oncological, Morbidity and Quality of Life Outcomes

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives One third of patients who undergo definitive chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer develop disease recurrence. Salvage surgery in the form of pelvic exenteration (PE) may offer improved survival and possibly cure in carefully selected patients, however robust data is scarce.

Obturator neuropathy combined with Guillain-Barre syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Obturator neuropathy caused by entrapment of obturator nerve is a disease with numbness, pain and weakness in legs. Guillain-Barre syndrome is an immune-me-diated peripheral polyneuropathy characterized by nearly same symptoms.

Gracilis tendon harvest for ACL reconstruction impairs gracilis muscle volume recovery and may adversely affect adjacent thigh musculature. MRI‐based outcomes from a subgroup of patients enroled in the DOSTAR randomized controlled trial

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Segmentation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allows accurate calculation of muscle volumes. The Dual Or Single Tendon Anterior cruciate ligament Reconstruction (DOSTAR) study is a prospective randomized controlled trial investigating a semitendinosus (ST) graft with adjustable button tibial fixation versus a dual tendon ...

Evaluating the efficacy of obturator cryoneurolysis for hip adductor spasticity: An observational, prospective study

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Hip adductor spasticity is a common affliction among patients with disorders of the central nervous system. Cryoneurolysis is a novel intervention for spasticity involving the application of extreme cold to a nerve. This induces axonal breakdown, relieving spasticity.

The predictive nature of diagnostic nerve blocks for lower extremity spasticity management with botulinum toxin and neurotomy: A systematic review

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction/Objective Diagnostic nerve blocks (DNBs) involve the injection of anesthetic around peripheral nerves to temporarily reduce motor tone. Although they are used clinically to inform spasticity treatment with neurotomy and chemodenervation, there is little research exploring the predictive nature of DNBs.
