Mapping the Missing: Assessing Amphibian Sampling Completeness and Overlap With Global Protected Areas

Ecology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2025.
This study evaluates global sampling completeness of amphibians and explores the overlap between sampling categories and conservation areas, focusing on natural protected areas (NPAs) and key biodiversity areas (KBAs). Results reveal significant data gaps, particularly in the most species‐rich realms, and a low spatial match with NPAs/KBAs.

Trypanosoma cruzi infection enhances olfactory response in Triatoma pallidipennis Stål (Hemiptera: Triatominae) to compounds potentially useful for insect control

Triatoma pallidipennis is one of the main vectors of Trypanosoma cruzi, the causative agent of Chagas disease. Attractant activity of octenol, nonanal and a mixture of lactic acid, hexanoic acid and ammonium hydroxide on T. cruzi–infected and non‐infected T. pallidipennis nymphal stages.

A Novel Methodology for the Accelerated Desalination of Seawater Utilizing Up‐ and Down‐Conversion Phosphors

Advanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 6, Issue 2, February 2025.
This research reports on the utilization of up‐ (UC) and downconversion (DC) phosphors to induce the desalination of seawater when they are part of solar evaporators. The findings demonstrate that evaporators can evaporate seawater in absence of solar light by using UC or DC materials.
