Oral Motion‐Powered Smart Dental Implant Abutment for In Situ Antibacterial and Cell Adhesion Through Piezoelectric Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We proposed a method based on the piezoelectric effect and fabricated an implant abutment on the basis of piezoelectric ceramic. Under physiological occlusal pressure, the oral motion‐powered smart dental implant abutments interacted with water and oxygen, promoting the formation of reactive oxygen species and achieving a synergistic and highly ...

A proposed novel digital condylar position adjustment technique to help restore a normal disc-condyle relationship

open access: yesHeliyon
Objectives: To demonstrate a novel digital technique that enables real-time visualisation of occlusal transfer and adjustment of condyle position, to (1) improve the repeatability of occlusal transfer and the accuracy of condyle position adjustment and ...

Smart Denture with Embedded Thin‐Film Temperature Sensors Patterned by Femtosecond Laser Pulse for Elderly Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
We demonstrate the direct‐laser patterning of a gold thin film on polymethyl methacrylate to fabricate a temperature sensor for dentures. The temperature sensor‐embedded smart dentures are evaluated in an oral environment, enabling in‐situ monitoring for elderly healthcare.

Assessment of Bite Force in Patients with Periodontitis Before and after Splinting in Anterior Teeth using Computerised Occlusal Analysis System: A Clinical Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Bite force is a measure of the functional status of the masticatory system. It is determined by the combined activity of the jaw elevator muscles, which are influenced by reflex mechanisms and jaw biomechanics.

Lagomorph cranial biomechanics and the functional significance of the unique fenestrated rostrum of leporids

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The crania of leporid lagomorphs are uniquely fenestrated, including the posterior cranial bones and the lateral portion of the maxilla. The functional significance of the highly fenestrated rostrum has received considerably little attention, despite being absent in other mammalian herbivores with a long rostrum.

Biomechanical analysis of the masticatory movement before and after adjusting dental occlusion in equine

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia
The aim of this study was to evaluate through three-dimensional kinematic analysis the influence of occlusal adjustment by tooth wear in masticatory biomechanics of horses.

Tooth row allometry in domestic rabbits and nondomestic lagomorphs: Evidence for a decoupling of body and tooth row size changes in evolutionary time

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Domestic rabbits of different body sizes differ disproportionately in the length of their tooth row or the length of their diastema. Abstract In various domestic mammals, smaller breeds tend to have proportionally larger teeth, whereas this is not a universal trend across mammals.

Mandibular Motion-Guided Virtual Occlusal Adjustment Experiment

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Aim or purpose: To compare the precision of jaw motion analyzers (JMA) and intraoral scanner dynamic occlusion (DO) modules in recording mandibular trajectories and evaluate their trueness in guiding virtual occlusal adjustments for anterior/posterior ...

Origin, evolution and biogeographic dynamics of the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) in Southwestern Europe

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The Pleistocene is a key period for understanding the evolutionary history and palaeobiogeography of the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). The species was first documented in southeastern Iberia at the beginning of the Middle Pleistocene and appears to have rapidly spread throughout Southwestern Europe, where it was found in numerous ...
