The effect of body posture on the preferred vertical dimension of occlusion

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1984
SummaryThirteen edentulous adults were investigated to see whether their preferred vertical dimension of occlusion (PVDO) was affected by vertical and horizontal body posture. The PVDO was found by the forced choice method using a graduated series of sticks in random sequence. The subjects were tested in both postures on two separate occasions.

Identifying People Using Body Sway in Case of Self-occlusion

2020
We propose a method of identifying people in case of self-occlusion by using body sway measured at the head using a top-view camera. To accurately represent the identities of people as reflected in body sway, it is important to acquire accurate appearances in images.

[Vitreous body and retinal vein occlusion].

Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 2015
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the adhesion status of the posterior vitreous cortex (PVC) towards the internal limiting membrane (ILM) has an impact on the development of retinal vein occlusion (RVO).In a retrospective analysis the operation protocols of 238 eyes receiving pars plana vitrectomy (ppV) and radial optic neurotomy (RON) for ...

Resistance Training with Vascular Occlusion in Inclusion Body Myositis

Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 2010
Inclusion body myositis (IBM) is a rare idiopathic inflammatory myopathy that produces remarkable muscle weakness. Resistance training with vascular occlusion has been shown to improve muscle strength and cross-sectional area in other muscle wasting conditions. We evaluated the efficacy of a moderate-intensity resistance training program combined with ...

Identification of p74, a gene essential for virulence of baculovirus occlusion bodies

Virology, 1989
DNA sequencing of the HindIII-P fragment of the baculovirus Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus downstream of a major late protein, p10, revealed the presence of an open reading frame (ORF) 1935 nucleotides in length and in opposite polarity to p10.

Acute Occlusion of a Mainstem Bronchus by a Rapidly Expanding Foreign Body

Chest, 1994
We report a case of an 85-year-old woman who presented with acute respiratory failure, caused by aspirating a sucralfate tablet that totally occluded her left main-stem bronchus. Acute respiratory failure resolved after bronchoscopic removal of the markedly expanded tablet. To our knowledge, the acute obstruction of a main-stem bronchus by an aspirated

[Foreign body causing coronary artery occlusion].

Morphologiai es igazsagugyi orvosi szemle, 1976
Authors in the descending branch of the left coronary at the autopsy of a 45 years old male--as an incidental finding--have found a foreign-body (sewing needle). Occlusion of the coronary was followed by necrosis and fibrosis of the myocard. During one year no clinical symptoms of myocard lesion were observed.
