Safety and efficacy of fluticasone propionate in the topical treatment of skin diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Fluticasone propionate - the first carbothioate corticosteroid - has been classified as a potent anti-inflammatory drug for dermatological use. It is available as 0.05% cream and 0.005% ointment formulations for the acute and maintenance treatment of ...

Segmentation-Reconstruction-Guided Facial Image De-occlusion [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Occlusions are very common in face images in the wild, leading to the degraded performance of face-related tasks. Although much effort has been devoted to removing occlusions from face images, the varying shapes and textures of occlusions still challenge the robustness of current methods.

Reducing Total Joint Replacement Surgical Site Infections: A Comparison of Two Dressings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
As total joint arthroplasties become more common, so too do the complications of the procedure, such as surgical site infections (SSI). When considering causative factors, it came to light that different dressings were being used for these surgical ...

Dressings and topical agents for arterial leg ulcers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: It is estimated that up to 1% of people in high-income countries suffer from a leg ulcer at some time in their life. The majority of leg ulcers are associated with circulation problems; poor blood return in the veins causes venous ulcers ...

Catheter Injectable Multifunctional Biomaterial for the Treatment of Infected Enterocutaneous Fistulas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multi‐functional shear‐thinning hydrogel is engineered to treat enterocutaneous fistulas. This hydrogel can resist external pressures allowing it to remain within the fistula tract and is shown to have significant antimicrobial, pro‐healing, and anti‐inflammatory properties, which were validated in in vitro and in vivo experiments.

Occlusion Robust 3D Human Pose Estimation with StridedPoseGraphFormer and Data Augmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Occlusion is an omnipresent challenge in 3D human pose estimation (HPE). In spite of the large amount of research dedicated to 3D HPE, only a limited number of studies address the problem of occlusion explicitly. To fill this gap, we propose to combine exploitation of spatio-temporal features with synthetic occlusion augmentation during training to ...

“You're this person who's providing light”: Embodied responses to information loss and transition within LGBTQIA+ communities

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper reports on findings from 15 semi‐structured interviews with LGBTQIA+ individuals within the United States who have experienced the loss of one or more LGBTQIA+ information spaces. The paper specifically focuses on how such losses occurred and the information transitions experienced by the participants in response to this loss ...

GarmentGAN: Photo-realistic Adversarial Fashion Transfer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The garment transfer problem comprises two tasks: learning to separate a person's body (pose, shape, color) from their clothing (garment type, shape, style) and then generating new images of the wearer dressed in arbitrary garments. We present GarmentGAN, a new algorithm that performs image-based garment transfer through generative adversarial methods.

Dressed (Renormalized) Coordinates in a Nonlinear System [PDF]

open access: yesJ.Phys. A38 (2005) 7527-7542, 2004
In previous publications dressed coordinates and dressed states has been introduced. Specifically, a system composed by a harmonic oscillator interacting linearly with an infinity set of other oscillators has been treated. In this paper we show how to generalize such dressed coordinates and dressed states to a nonlinear version of this system.

Simplified vacuum dressing system: effectiveness and safety in wounds management

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2022
Purpose: Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has revolutionized wound care, but its high cost reduces the procedure’s availability. To solve the problem, streamlined vacuum dressings systems have been proposed, but the utility of these devices has ...
