Ionospheric correction of GPS radio occultation data in the troposphere [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2016
For inversions of the GPS radio occultation (RO) data in the neutral atmosphere, this study investigates an optimal transition height for replacing the standard ionospheric correction using the linear combination of the L1 and L2 bending angles with the ...

Comparison of COSMIC and COSMIC-2 Radio Occultation Refractivity and Bending Angle Uncertainties in August 2006 and 2021

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
We compare the random error statistics (uncertainties) of COSMIC (Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere and Climate, C1) and COSMIC-2 (C2) radio occultation (RO) bending angles and refractivities for the months of August 2006 and ...

Design and Simulation of Stellar Occultation Infrared Band Constellation

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
This study provides an in-depth analysis of the characteristics of stellar occultation events. Using 10 target star sources, the influence of orbital elements on the number, duration, and distribution of stellar occultation events was simulated and ...

Quality Assessment of the Atmospheric Radio Occultation Profiles from FY-3E/GNOS-II BDS and GPS Measurements

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
The Fengyun-3E (FY-3E) satellite carrying the advanced Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Radio Occultation Sounder-II (GNOS-II) is already in operation for radio occultation (RO) observation, with the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS-2 and

Eclipses: A Brief History of Celestial Mechanics, Astrometry and Astrophysics

open access: yesUniverse
Solar and lunar eclipses are indeed the first astronomical phenomena which have been recorded since very early antiquity. Their periodicities gave birth to the first luni-solar calendars based on the Methonic cycle since the sixth century before Christ ...

Supervised Detection of Ionospheric Scintillation in Low-Latitude Radio Occultation Measurements

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Radio Occultation (RO) has provided high-quality atmospheric data assimilated in Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models and climatology studies for more than 20 years.

Occult Macular Dystrophy

open access: yesTürk Oftalmoloji Dergisi, 2016
Occult macular dystrophy is an inherited macular dystrophy characterized by a progressive decline of bilateral visual acuity with normal fundus appearance, fluorescein angiogram and full-field electroretinogram. This case report presents a 20-year-old female patient with bilateral progressive decline of visual acuity for six years.

Real-Time Tomographic Inversion of Truncated Ionospheric GNSS Radio Occultations

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
This paper presents a new way of combining Abel inversion and the Chapman model with a linearly increasing scale height to retrieve ionospheric electron density vertical profiles from truncated-sounding radio-occultation data. A linear Vary–Chap model is

Sudden Extreme Obscuration of a Sun-like Main-sequence Star: Evolution of the Circumstellar Dust around ASASSN-21qj

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
ASASSN-21qj is a distant Sun-like star that recently began an episode of deep dimming events after no prior recorded variability. Here we examine archival and newly obtained optical and near-infrared data of this star.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
