Reference data for evaluation of occupationally noise-induced hearing loss

open access: yes, 2004
Relevant reference data are required in order to determine the effect from occupational noise exposure on hearing. Pure-tone averages (PTA) of hearing threshold levels simplify the evaluation for audiometric frequencies typically affected by noise.

Automated particle analysis of D.B. Cooper's tie

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Automated particle analysis (APA) using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy‐dispersive x‐ray spectrometry (EDS) is a well‐known method in forensics, especially as it is applied to gunshot residue analysis. Here we describe the analysis of particles lifted from D.B. Cooper's tie, which was left on the hijacked plane in 1971.

Photon‐Counting Detector CT Versus Conventional CT for Low‐Dose Chest Imaging: A Reader Preference Study

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Photon‐counting detector CT (PCD‐CT) is a technology that directly counts individual photons and their energy, compared to conventional energy‐integrating detector CT (EID‐CT) which measures the total deposited X‐ray energy without distinguishing photon energies.
