Weather, EarlyView.UK summer heatwaves are dictated by the polar jet stream position and sea surface temperature (SST) variability, affecting the Summer North Atlantic Oscillation (SNAO) index. The SNAO can determine and influence the Central England Precipitation (CEP) and Central England Temperature (CET).

Weather, EarlyView.This study documents the unseasonal and prolonged heavy rain events which occurred in southern China during April 2024. In this series of extreme rainfall events, Guangdong province recorded extreme rainfall exceeding 6‐sigma of climatology, with eleven cities reporting record‐breaking rainfall.
