Monaco Explorations Ocean Decade Project
Marine Technology Society Journal, 2022Abstract Perpetuating the tradition initiated more than 100 years ago by Prince Albert Ist of Monaco to make people love, know, and protect the ocean, his great-great-grandson HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco puts the protection of the planet and particularly the ocean high on his agenda.

Listen to Ocean Voices for an Equitable Ocean Decade
Marine Technology Society Journal, 2022Abstract The Ocean Decade is a critical chance to move toward a sustainable and equitable ocean. Realizing this vision requires that we all recognize inequities, learn from failure, listen to the diverse voices of people who rely on the ocean for their lives and livelihoods, and value their expertise.

Decadal trends in Indian Ocean ambient sound
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2013The increase of ocean noise documented in the North Pacific has sparked concern on whether the observed increases are a global or regional phenomenon. This work provides evidence of low frequency sound increases in the Indian Ocean. A decade (2002–2012) of recordings made off the island of Diego Garcia, UK in the Indian Ocean was parsed into time ...

Decadal Prediction of Indian Ocean Dipole
2020

Decadal Prediction is the prediction of climate for the next 5–20 years. Decadal Prediction has gained great importance as it tries to bridge the gap between seasonal and Centennial (50-100 year) predictions creating a balance between initial conditions and ...

Decadal Changes in the South Indian Ocean Thermocline
Journal of Climate, 2005Abstract A significant change in properties of the thermocline is observed across the whole Indian Ocean 32°S section between 1987 and 2002. This change represents a reversal of the pre-1987 freshening and decreasing oxygen concentrations of the upper thermocline that had been interpreted as a fingerprint of anthropogenic climate change.

Ocean transport: the decade past and the decade ahead
1985My purpose rema~ns the same, and so does the centra1 conjecture. I still maintain that there is more room for improvement in management than ~n design. 1. lntroduction Technology continues to develop at an accelerating pace. Looking ahead to the middle of the next decade is even more important than it was ten years ago.

Decadal atmosphere-ocean variations in the Pacific
Climate Dynamics, 1994Considerable evidence has emerged of a sub- stantial decade-long change in the north Pacific atmo- sphere and ocean lasting from about 1976 to 1988. Ob- served significant changes in the atmospheric circula- tion throughout the troposphere revealed a deeper and eastward shifted Aleutian low pressure system in the winter half year which advected warmer ...

Decadal oscillations in the ocean’s largest oxygen-deficient zone
ScienceThe impact of global warming on the ocean’s oxygen-deficient zones (ODZs) is uncertain, partly because of a lack of data on past changes. We report monthly resolved records of coral skeleton–bound nitrogen isotopes (CS-δ 15 N) to reconstruct denitrification in the Eastern Tropical North Pacific (ETNP) ODZ over the ...
