Cuttlebone‐inspired metamaterials exploit a septum‐wall architecture to achieve excellent mechanical and functional properties. This review classifies existing designs into direct biomimetic, honeycomb‐type, and strut‐type architectures, summarizes governing design principles, and presents a decoupled design framework for interpreting multiphysical ...

Decadal prediction of the North Atlantic subpolar gyre in the HiGEM high-resolution climate model [PDF]
This paper presents an analysis of initialised decadal hindcasts of the North Atlantic subpolar gyre (SPG) using the HiGEM model, which has a nominal grid-spacing of 90 km in the atmosphere, and 1/3 ∘∘ in the ocean.

An injectable cold atmospheric plasma‐activated decellularized tumor extracellular matrix hydrogel is introduced as a post‐surgical immunoactivation platform. The engineered gel attracts residual tumor cells and induces immunogenic cell death, reshaping the tumor microenvironment and eliciting systemic antitumor immunity. In combination with checkpoint

Freshwater and heat transports from global ocean synthesis [PDF]
An eddy‐permitting ¼° global ocean reanalysis based on the Operational Met Office FOAM data assimilation system has been run for 1989–2010 forced by ERA‐Interim meteorology. Freshwater and heat transports are compared with published estimates globally and in each basin, with special focus on the Atlantic.

Millennial Variability in an Idealized Ocean Model: Predicting the AMOC Regime Shifts [PDF]
A salient feature of paleorecords of the last glacial interval in the North Atlantic is pronounced millennial variability, commonly known as Dansgaard–Oeschger events.

AI–Guided 4D Printing of Carnivorous Plants–Inspired Microneedles for Accelerated Wound Healing
This work presents an artificial intelligence (AI)‐guided 4D‐printed microneedle platform inspired by carnivorous plants for wound healing. A thermo‐responsive shape memory polymer enables body temperature–triggered self‐coiling for autonomous wound closure.

The Effect of Salinity on Ocean Circulation and Ice–Ocean Interaction on Enceladus
Observational data suggest that the ice shell on Enceladus is thicker at the equator than at the pole, indicating an equator-to-pole ice flow. If the ice shell is in an equilibrium state, the mass transport of the ice flow must be balanced by the ...

The first eXpendable BathyThermographs (XBTs) were deployed in the 1960s in the North Atlantic Ocean. In 1967 XBTs were deployed in operational mode to provide a continuous record of temperature profile data along repeated transects, now known as the ...

Observation-based selection of climate models projects Arctic ice-free summers around 2035
The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer as early as 2035, according to an analysis of CMIP6 models which selects only the models that best capture observed sea-ice area and volume and northward ocean heat ...
