Ocean Wave Simulation Based on Wind Field. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Ocean wave simulation has a wide range of applications in movies, video games and training systems. Wind force is the main energy resource for generating ocean waves, which are the result of the interaction between wind and the ocean surface.

Hurricane ocean wind speeds [PDF]

open access: yes2021 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS, 2021
<p>How strong does the wind blows in a hurricane proves a question that is difficult to answer, but has far-reaching consequences for satellite meteorology, weather forecasting and hurricane advisories. Moreover, huge year-to-year variability in extremes challenges evidence for changing hurricane climatology in a changing climate ...

Analysis of lateral bearing behaviors of scoured monopile foundations considering the influence of length-to-diameter ratio

open access: yesShuili Shuiyun Gongcheng Xuebao, 2023
Scour is one of the key factors that should be considered in the design process of offshore wind turbine (OWT) monopile foundations. However, the geometry of local scour pit and embedded length-to-diameter ratio of pile (L/D) are always ignored in ...

Strong sensitivity of Southern Ocean carbon uptake and nutrient cycling to wind stirring [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2014
Here we test the hypothesis that winds have an important role in determining the rate of exchange of CO2 between the atmosphere and ocean through wind stirring over the Southern Ocean.

Impact of Ocean Currents on Wind Stress in the Tropical Indian Ocean

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
This study examines the effect of surface currents on the bulk algorithm calculation ofwind stress estimated using the scatterometer data during 2007–2020 in the Indian Ocean. In the study region as a whole, the wind stress decreased by 5.4% by including currents in the wind stress equation.
