Atmospheric loss in giant impacts depends on pre-impact surface conditions [PDF]
Earth likely acquired much of its inventory of volatile elements during the main stage of its formation. Some of Earth's proto-atmosphere must therefore have survived the giant impacts, collisions between planet-sized bodies, that dominate the latter phases of accretion.

To maximize our ability to obtain recognition of Ocean Sciences Section members as Fellows of AGU while minimizing the associated workload, I have, in consultation with our executive committee, established an Ocean Sciences Fellows Committee chaired by the President‐Elect to oversee and assist in the nomination process. The committee asks that anyone ...

In recognition of the Ocean’s importance “to an equitable and sustainable planet”, the United Nations have pronounced 2021-2030 as the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. What will “the Ocean we need for the future we want” look like? And how can we transform human behavior to become more sustainable?

Generation-To-Generation Transmitted Tsunami-Like Wave Sightings Along the East Coast of Taiwan
Oral tradition indicates that a tsunami-like wave occurred along the east coast of Taiwan during the middle of the 19th century. However, evidence of the event is limited.

Atmospheric and Oceanic Computational Science [PDF]
The first workshop on Atmospheric and Oceanic Computational Science brings together computational and domain scientists who develop computational tools for the study of the atmosphere and oceans. These tools are essential for understanding and prediciting weather, air and water pollution, and the evolution of the planet's climate.

Free-Air Gravity Map of Taiwan and Its Applications
An island-wide gravity in Taiwan was conducted by the Institute of Earth Sciences, Academia Sinica, between 1980 and 1987. The 603 stations at which the gravity values were determined included 308 points in the 500 m or higher mountain range where few ...

Water Partitioning in Planetary Embryos and Protoplanets with Magma Oceans [PDF]
The water content of magma oceans is widely accepted as a key factor that determines whether a terrestrial planet is habitable. Water ocean mass is determined as a result not only of water delivery and loss, but also of water partitioning among several reservoirs.

An Ensemble Algorithm Based Component for Geomagnetic Data Assimilation
Geomagnetic data assimilation is one of the most recent developments in geomagnetic studies. It combines geodynamo model outputs and surface geomagnetic observations to provide more accurate estimates of the core dynamic state and provide accurate ...

Magnetic Induction in Convecting Galilean Oceans [PDF]
To date, analyses of magnetic induction in putative oceans in Jupiter's large icy moons have assumed uniform conductivity in the modeled oceans. However, the phase and amplitude response of the induced fields will be influenced by the increasing electrical conductivity along oceans' convective adiabatic temperature profiles.
