The biarylitides are fascinating RiPP natural products with small core peptides and diverse peptide crosslinks performed by cytochrome P450 enzymes. Here, we address the discovery and diversity of the biarylitides, methods to analyse these constrained cyclic peptides, the structures of the biarylitide P450 enzymes and address alternate catalytic ...

While the Smithian–Spathian boundary carbon isotopic excursion has been traditionally interpreted as capturing global carbon cycle behaviour, recent studies have suggested that at least some Early Triassic carbon isotopic excursions may incorporate influences from authigenic or early diagenetic processes.

Oceanography: The Past: Oceanography: The Present and Future
Oceanography is a young science, close to its historical roots, but it's maturing fast as “state‐of‐the‐art” technology and computer‐aided numerical modeling play an increasing role. Our ability to obtain, process, and analyze enormous volumes of data would stun an oceanographer of the 1930's.

Emblematic of global coral‐reef ecosystem decline, the coral ecosystem‐engineer Acropora palmata is now rare throughout much of the western Atlantic. We report for the first time, a significant record of late‐Holocene A. palmata populations that existed from ~4500 to 375 years before present in the Dry Tortugas, FL, USA.

Rogue waves emerging from the resonant interaction of three waves [PDF]
We introduce a novel family of analytic solutions of the three-wave resonant interaction equations to the purpose of modeling unique events, i.e. "amplitude peaks" which are isolated in space and time. The description of these solutions is likely to be a crucial step in the understanding and forecasting of rogue-waves in a variety of multi-component ...

Integrating Small Satellite Communication in an Autonomous Vehicle Network: A Case for Oceanography [PDF]
Small satellites and autonomous vehicles have greatly evolved in the last few decades. Hundreds of small satellites have been launched with increasing functionalities, in the last few years. Likewise, numerous autonomous vehicles have been built, with decreasing costs and form-factor payloads. Here we focus on combining these two multifaceted assets in
