Biogeographical Study of Plateau PikasOchotona curzoniae(Lagomorpha, Ochotonidae)
Zoological Science, 2012We reconstructed the demographic history of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) on the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau by using genetic variation data obtained from spatially distributed populations across much of the plateau. We obtained sequence data, including cob (1,140 bp) and D-loop sequences (732 bp), from 144 individuals at sites ranging from the ...

Social Relationships of Adult Black-Lipped Pikas (Ochotona curzoniae)
Journal of Mammalogy, 1991Adult spatial and social relationships in a marked population of black-lipped pikas ( Ochotona curzoniae ) were studied during the reproductive season from April to July near Qinghai Lake, People's Republic of China. Families of pikas occupied relatively discrete home ranges that contained a burrow system with many entrances in continuous alpine-meadow

Herbivorous animals can obtain energy by decomposing plant polysaccharides through gut microbiota, but the mechanism of gut microbiota decomposing plant polysaccharides in high-altitude model animals is still unclear. Plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) is

Two community types occur in gut microbiota of large-sample wild plateau pikas (Ochotona curzoniae).
Integrative Zoology, 2021Studies on large-sample gut microbial sequencing data indicate that gut microbiota can be divided into multiple community types, different community types may influence the community function and ecosystem service.

Plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) burrowing greatly influences ecosystem multifunctionality (EMF) in alpine grasslands. However, the degree to which this activity would affect EMF in alpine grasslands lack general cognition.

: China's Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) is an important area for bird conservation, with many endemic and Threatened species. Colonial burrowing mammals play an important role in structuring bird communities in arid grasslands around the world.

Cloning and characterization of lactate dehydrogenase C4 from Ochotona curzoniae
Molecular Biology, 2014Lactate dehydrogenase C4 (LDH-C4) is considered to be a good target protein for the development of contraceptive drugs. To develop contraceptive rodenticide against pika (Ochotona curzoniae) LDH-C4, the pika LDH-C gene was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant protein was purified and characterized.

Isolation and characterization of 13 microsatellite loci in the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae)
Conservation Genetics, 2008High quality jumping microsatellite libraries of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) were constructed; 231 out of the 288 clones contained microsatellite repeat motif and 120 pairs of primers were designed accordingly. Polymorphism was assessed for 48 individuals. Only 13 microsatellite loci were polymorphic with high polymorphism information content
