Biogeographical Study of Plateau PikasOchotona curzoniae(Lagomorpha, Ochotonidae)

Zoological Science, 2012
We reconstructed the demographic history of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) on the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau by using genetic variation data obtained from spatially distributed populations across much of the plateau. We obtained sequence data, including cob (1,140 bp) and D-loop sequences (732 bp), from 144 individuals at sites ranging from the ...

Social Relationships of Adult Black-Lipped Pikas (Ochotona curzoniae)

Journal of Mammalogy, 1991
Adult spatial and social relationships in a marked population of black-lipped pikas ( Ochotona curzoniae ) were studied during the reproductive season from April to July near Qinghai Lake, People's Republic of China. Families of pikas occupied relatively discrete home ranges that contained a burrow system with many entrances in continuous alpine-meadow

Seasonal thermogenesis and body mass regulation in plateau pikas (Ochotona curzoniae)

Oecologia, 2006
Changes in photoperiod, ambient temperature and food availability trigger seasonal acclimatization in physiology and behavior of many animals. In the present study, seasonal adjustments in body mass and in several physiological, hormonal, and biochemical markers were examined in wild-captured plateau pikas (Ochotona curzoniae) from the Qinghai-Tibetan ...

Cloning and characterization of lactate dehydrogenase C4 from Ochotona curzoniae

Molecular Biology, 2014
Lactate dehydrogenase C4 (LDH-C4) is considered to be a good target protein for the development of contraceptive drugs. To develop contraceptive rodenticide against pika (Ochotona curzoniae) LDH-C4, the pika LDH-C gene was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant protein was purified and characterized.

Reproduction of plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) on the Qinghai–Tibetan plateau

European Journal of Wildlife Research, 2011
The reproduction of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) was investigated in Guoluo District at an elevation of 4,000 m on the Qinghai–Tibetan plateau, China, from April 2007 to August 2008. Reproduction was seasonal, and the breeding season lasted from April to late June/early July.

Male reproductive success in plateau pikas (Ochotona curzoniae): A microsatellite analysis

Mammalian Biology, 2009
In many social species, competition and cooperation between group members may lead to a large variance in reproductive success among individuals, especially for adult male. From April to August 2002, we studied the adult male reproductive success of plateau pikas in Haibei Alpine Meadow Ecosystem Research Station, Chinese Academy of Science, using ...

Behavior Prediction for Ochotona curzoniae Based on Wavelet Neural Network

2016
Ochotona curzoniae is one of the main biological disasters in the Qinghai-Tibet plateau and adjacent areas in China. Video-based animal behavior analysis is a critical and fascinating problem for both biologists and computer vision scientists. The behavior prediction for Ochotona curzoniae is a basis of Ochotona curzoniae behavior analysis in video ...

Research on the restoration of motion-blurred images of Ochotona curzoniae

2011 International Conference on Image Analysis and Signal Processing, 2011
Ochotona curzoniae is one of the main creature calamities in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. With the development of advanced biological recognition technologies, a new scientific method is provided for the Ochotona curzoniae's research using an automatic identification system of this animal.
