Lowly pathogenic avian influenza (H9N2) infection in Plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae), Qinghai Lake, China

Veterinary Microbiology, 2014
Avian influenza viruses (AIVs) are globally important contagions. Several domestic mammals can be infected with AIVs and may play important roles in the adaptation and transmission of these viruses in mammals, although the roles of wild mammals in the natural ecology of AIVs are not yet clear.

Modeling dispersal of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) using a cellular automata model

Ecological Modelling, 2007
The plateau pika is a keystone species of the Qinghai-Xizang plateau. We ought to intensify the inspection and management about its population dynamics in order to bring it to appropriate spatio-temporal distribution, play the role of keystone species, and do not destroy the alpine grasslands.

The Implementation on the Restoration of Motion-Blurred Images of Ochotona Curzoniae

2013 International Conference on Information Technology and Applications, 2013
Ochotona curzoniae is one of the main creature calamities in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. With the development of advanced biological recognition technologies, a new scientific method is provided for the Ochotona curzoniae's research using the automatic identification system of the Ochotona curzoniae. But due to the relative motion between the object and the

Mitochondrial genome analysis of Ochotona curzoniae and implication of cytochrome c oxidase in hypoxic adaptation

Mitochondrion, 2008
Pikas originated in Asia and are small lagomorphs native to cold climates. The plateau pika, Ochotona curzoniae is a keystone species on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and an ideal animal model for hypoxic adaptation studies. Altered mitochondrial function, especially cytochrome c oxidase activity, is an important factor in modulation of energy generation ...

Intermittent cold exposure results in visceral adipose tissue “browning” in the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Molecular & Integrative Physiology, 2015
The plateau pika has developed tolerance to cold and hypoxia in order to adapt to living in the extreme environment of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. One mammalian mechanism for cold adaptation is thermogenesis by brown adipose tissue (BAT), but the degree to which pika exploits this mechanism or how it may be modified by the additional stresses of high ...

[Cloning and characterization of lactate dehydrogenase C4 from pika ochotona curzoniae].

Molekuliarnaia biologiia, 2015
Lactate dehydrogenase C4 (LDH-C4) is considered to be a good target protein for the development of contraceptive drugs. To develop contraceptive rodenticide against pika (Ochotona curzoniae) LDH-C4, the pika LDH-C gene was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant protein was purified and characterized.

Isolation and characterization of 13 microsatellite loci in the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae)

Conservation Genetics, 2008
High quality jumping microsatellite libraries of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) were constructed; 231 out of the 288 clones contained microsatellite repeat motif and 120 pairs of primers were designed accordingly. Polymorphism was assessed for 48 individuals. Only 13 microsatellite loci were polymorphic with high polymorphism information content

Elevational amplification of plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) burrowing impacts on ecological functions in alpine grasslands

Journal of Environmental Management
Plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) burrowing greatly influences ecosystem multifunctionality (EMF) in alpine grasslands. However, the degree to which this activity would affect EMF in alpine grasslands lack general cognition. Here, we examined pika burrowing impacts on EMF across elevation gradients in alpine grasslands. The results furnished compelling
