A nanozyme-based cascade colorimetric aptasensor for amplified detection of ochratoxin A.
Nanoscale, 2019Colorimetric assays have been widely developed for the detection of toxin ochratoxin A (OTA), but most of them suffer from moderate sensitivity when they are adopted for the detection of trace OTA in a complicated food matrix.

Immunotoxic activity of ochratoxin A
Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2006Ochratoxin A (OTA) is an immunosuppressant fungal compound, produced by toxigenic species ofAspergillusandPenicilliumfungi in a wide variety of climates and geographical regions. The contamination of food by this mycotoxin takes place primarily during preharvest periods. Almost all types of food can be contaminated.

Effect of ochratoxin A and ochratoxin C on the monocyte and lymphocyte function
Mycotoxin Research, 2002The effect of practically relevant mycotoxin concentrations on functions of immune cells was studied in in vitro experiments. Porcine mononuclear cells were exposed to a crudeAspergillus-ochraceus toxin containing OTA, a HPLC fraction identical with OTC derived from the crude toxin (RE2), as well as pure OTA and OTC in a concentration range from 0.46 ...

In this research, 47 wine samples produced from 2001 to 2002 harvest period in four Turkish regions were analyzed for the presence of ochratoxin A (OTA). Based on the results, the OTA levels of red wines are generally higher than those of white and rose wines.

The fate of ochratoxin A in rats
Food and Cosmetics Toxicology, 1977Abstract The fate of ochratoxin A was studied in rats given a single ip injection of 1 mg labelled with 14 C. Ochratoxin A reached its highest levels in serum (accounting for up to 90% of the 14 C dose), liver (4·5%) and kidney (4·4%) 30 min after the injection and then decreased gradually.

Synthesis of ochratoxins TA and TC, analogs of ochratoxins A and C

Ochratoxin A is a thermoresistant mycotoxin produced by ubiquitous molds of Aspergillus and Penicillium genera. It contaminates foodstuffs and feedstuffs worldwide and therefore is of human and animal concern. Ochratoxin A induces oxidative stress, inflammation, and fibrosis, and is nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic, and neurotoxicin particularly in male ...

Ochratoxins: A global perspective
Mycopathologia, 2006Ochratoxins have been overshadowed by better-known mycotoxins, but they are gaining importance. Here we consider ochratoxins in the context of aflatoxins, which are better understood than ochratoxins on many levels. We review recent work on taxonomic distribution, contamination of commodities, biosynthesis, toxicity and regulatory aspects of ...

Flour delivered to a school in the Bournemouth area was found by thinlayered chromatography to contain up to 6.25 mg/dg of ochratoxin. A. Penicillium cyclopium, a fungus known to produce this toxin, was found in discoloured portions of the caked flour. Ochratoxin was also found in a second sack delivered to the school, but not in samples of sound flour
