Reacting the Free Radicals ClO2 and [O3]–: One‐Electron Transfer Instead of Bond Formation
Zeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.In the reaction of ClO2 and KO3 in liquid ammonia, [NH4][ClO2] was formed as identified by X‐ray diffraction. These results clearly indicate that a one‐electron transfer accompanied by oxidation of [O3]− took place instead of the expected radical coupling. They also suggest that the reduction potential of chlorine dioxide exceeds that of ozone.
