Fluorescent Diarylethenes With Polar Groups: Synthesis, Spectra, and Optical Microscopy Applications

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Blinking green and flashing red: photo‐switchable and photo‐activatable probes emitting green and red light were prepared and applied as bioconjugates in super‐resolution optical microscopy. ABSTRACT The use of photoactivatable fluorescent diarylethenes (fDAEs) in biology‐related light microscopy has been restricted by the lack of probes having freely ...

Dissociation of hydrogen molecules on the clean and hydrogen-preadsorbed Be(0001) surface

open access: yes, 2011
Using first-principles calculations, we systematically study the potential energy surfaces and dissociation processes for hydrogen molecules on the clean and hydrogen-preadsorbed Be(0001) surfaces.

Swept-source OCTA quantification of capillary closure predicts ETDRS severity staging of NPDR

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 2020
Purpose To test whether a single or composite set of parameters evaluated with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), representing retinal capillary closure, can predict non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) staging according to the ...

Chain Versus Ring: Characterization of a Meta‐Phenylene Ladder Polymer and Its Octameric Macrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The synthesis and comprehensive spectral and photophysical analysis of a methyl‐substituted ladder meta‐phenylene macrocycle (MeLMMP) and its polymer analogue (MeLPMP) show that, despite differing topologies (macrocycle vs. polymer), both display nearly identical electronic and photophysical properties due to cross‐conjugation.

Suppression of magnetism in Ba5AlIr2O11: interplay of Hund's coupling, molecular orbitals and spin-orbit interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The electronic and magnetic properties of Ba$_5$AlIr$_2$O$_{11}$ containing Ir-Ir dimers are investigated using the GGA and GGA+SOC calculations. We found that strong suppression of the magnetic moment in this compound recently found in [J.
