Recent Advances in Pickering Emulsion Templated Phase Change Material Microcapsules: Design, Fabrication, and Multifunctional Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Fabrication process of phase change microcapsules using a Pickering emulsion template method and their subsequent applications. The increasing demand for efficient thermal energy storage systems has driven the development of phase change material microcapsules (PCMMs), which provide high energy‐storage density, reversible phase change, and reduced ...

Production, characterization and immobilization of protease produced by Periconia byssoides

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 20, Issue 3, Page 1538-1553, May/June 2026.
Abstract The present work sought to broaden the repertoire of proteolytic biocatalyst formulations by producing, purifying, characterizing, and identifying suitable immobilization carriers for an extracellular protease from the filamentous fungi Periconia byssoides.

Copolymers of glycidyl methacrylate and octadecyl acrylate: synthesis, characterization, swelling properties, and reactivity ratios [PDF]

open access: yesDesigned Monomers and Polymers, 2012
The free radical copolymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and octadecyl acrylate (ODA) was carried out at 70 °C in solution using toluene as solvent and 2,2′-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator. The copolymer compositions were determined using 1H NMR spectroscopy.

Micro–Mesoporous Ferrierite: Strategies for Tuning the Accessibility of a Peculiar Zeolite

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 10, 27 May 2026.
The anisotropic structure of ferrierite (FER) zeolite makes challenging the increase of catalyst effectiveness by hierarchical porosity. The pore mouth location of the active sites for butene isomerization requires a fine balance between development of external surface and retention of shape selectivity.

Copolymerization of Styrene with Dodecyl Methacrylate and Octadecyl Methacrylate

open access: yesCroatica Chemica Acta, 2002
Styrene (Sty) was copolymerized with dodecyl methacrylate (DDMA) and with octadecyl methacrylate (ODMA) in toluene solution using 2,2'-azobis(isobutyronitrile) (AIBN) as a free radical initiator over a wide composition and conversion range. The copolymer composi-tion was determined from NMR spectra.

Performance of functionalized monolithic silica capillary columns with different mesopore sizes using radical polymerization of octadecyl methacrylate

open access: yesJournal of Chromatography A, 2021
We report on the possibility to enhance the phase ratio and retention factor in silica monoliths. According to pioneering work done by Núñez et al. [1], this enhancement is pursued by applying a stationary phase layer via radical polymerization with octadecyl methacrylate (ODM) as an alternative to the customary octadecylsilylation (C18-derivatization).

Novel Vitreous Substitutes in Animal and Human Models: A Systematic Review

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Introduction Vitreous substitutes are crucial adjuncts during vitreoretinal surgery for retinal detachment, macular holes, and vitreous hemorrhage. However, current vitreous substitutes pose limitations, including but not limited to their postoperative decrease in visual sharpness, nonfavorable refractive indices, and complications such as glaucoma ...

Mussel‐Inspired Molecular Strategies for Fabricating Functional Materials With Underwater Adhesion and Self‐Healing Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 51, December 23, 2025.
This review systematically examines the nanomechanical mechanisms of mussel‐inspired molecular interactions, primarily investigated by direct force measurement techniques such as surface forces apparatus and atomic force microscopy. The macroscopic adhesive and self‐healing performances of mussel‐inspired functional materials, including coacervates ...
