Jahn-teller distortions in copper(II) complexes as determined from ESR powder spectra [PDF]
Cations Cu(ligand)2+6 doped in lattices of non-cubic Zn(ligand)6(anion)2 are shown to have ESR powder spectra, corresponding with two types of cations, distorted octahedral and regular octahedral.

Multicolor ultralong phosphorescence from perovskite-like octahedral α-AlF3
Unravelling the origin of emission in luminescent inorganic materials is challenging. Here, the authors report that AlF6 octahedrons exhibit excitation-dependent color-tunable phosphorescence; structurally related compounds are also luminescent.

Moiré‐Assisted Realization of Octahedral MoTe2 Monolayer
A current key challenge in 2D materials is the realization of emergent quantum phenomena in hetero structures via controlling the moiré potential created by the periodicity mismatch between adjacent layers, as highlighted by the discovery of ...

Nuclei with Tetrahedral Symmetry [PDF]
We discuss a point-group-theory based method of searching for new regions of nuclear stability. We illustrate the related strategy with realistic calculations employing the tetrahedral and the octahedral point groups. In particular, several nuclei in the

Structural and density functional theory calculated data of three octahedral hexaaquametal(II) ions containing different metals (Cr, Ni or Cu) are presented to illustrate different geometries these octahedral hexaaquametal(II) ions can have.

Structural modelling of octahedral tilts in perovskites is typically carried out using the symmetry constraints of the resulting space group. In most cases, this introduces more degrees of freedom than those strictly necessary to describe only the ...

Magnetism and local structure in low-dimensional, Mott insulating GdTiO3 [PDF]
Cation displacements, oxygen octahedral tilts, and magnetism of epitaxial, ferrimagnetic, insulating GdTiO3 films sandwiched between cubic SrTiO3 layers are studied using scanning transmission electron microscopy and magnetization measurements.

Octahedral Tilt Instability of ReO_3-type Crystals [PDF]
The octahedron tilt transitions of ABX_3 perovskite-structure materials lead to an anti-polar (or antiferroelectric) arrangement of dipoles, with the low temperature structure having six sublattices polarized along various crystallographic directions. It
