Magnetic susceptibility of Co4+(d5) in octahedral and tetrahedral environments

open access: closedJournal of Solid State Chemistry, 1973
Abstract Measurements of magnetic susceptibility on compounds containing stoichiometric Co4+ are reported. The compound Ba2CoO4 has the Co4+(d5) ion at a tetrahedral site and displays a susceptibility of the expected magnitude for S = 5 2 .

Influence of Manganese Ions Environment in Octahedral Sublattice of La0.7Sr0.3Mn0.9Fe0.1 – xMgxO3 + γ Manganites on Their Properties

open access: closedInorganic Materials: Applied Research, 2021
Structural, magnetic, and electrical characteristics of manganites in the system La3+0.7Sr2+0.3Mn3+0.6–x-2γMn4+0.3+x+2γFe3+0.1–x Mg2+xO2-3+γ (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) synthesized by solid-state reactions are presented. Sintering was performed in air at 1423 K. Samples with stoichiometric oxygen content (γ = 0) were obtained by annealing at 1223 K and a partial ...

Magnetic susceptibilities of trivalent lanthanide ions in an octahedral environment

open access: closedThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 1974
Magnetic susceptibilities for eight lanthanide ions in Cs2NaLnCl6 were measured from 2.5 to [inverted lazy s] 80°K with a vibrating sample magnetometer. Computer fitting of the data for Cs2NaCeCl6 gave g = 1.43 for the Γ7 ground level, and f2 = 3.85 for the Γ8 excited level.

Magnetic Susceptibility of Yb3+ in an Octahedral Environment

open access: closedThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 1971
The magnetic susceptibility of Yb3+ in Cs2NaYbCl6 was measured from 2.5 to 100°K and showed Curie–Weiss temperature dependence from 2.5 to 20°K (μeff = 2.46 μB, θ = 0.95°C) and from 45 to 100°K (μeff = 4.47 μB, θ = 70°C), with a transitional region from 20–45°K.

Amorphous aluminosilicates containing trivalent chromium in a non-octahedral coordination environment

open access: closedMonatshefte für Chemie - Chemical Monthly, 1985
Amorphous aluminosilicates containing up to 5.8 wt.% chromium have been prepared by cation exchange on an amorphous sodium aluminosilicate using Cr(III) salts. Electronic spectroscopy has shown that the ligand arrangement around the Cr(III) sites does not correspond to the octahedral geometry.

Synthesis of the Germanium(I) Compounds [Ge2Hal4]2– and Their Reductive Condensation to Octahedral [Ge6]2– Clusters in an Organometallic Environment

open access: closedEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, 2000
GeI2 reacts with [M2(CO)10]2– (M = Cr, W) leading to reductive coupling of two GeI2 units to produce the [Ge2I4]2– ligands of [{(OC)5M}I2Ge–GeI2{M(CO)5}]2– (1a and 2a). The [Ph4P] salts of these anions have been characterised by X-ray structure analyses as have the [Ph4P] salts of [{(OC)5M}Cl2Ge–GeCl2{M(CO)5}]2– (1b and 2b) obtained from the iodo ...

High magnetic fields study of asymmetric Co(II) dimer in octahedral ligand environment

open access: closedSolid State Communications, 2003
Abstract Magnetic properties of the dinuclear cobalt complex [Co2(ox)tpmc](ClO4)2·3H2O have been studied from the magnetization data obtained in the high magnetic field-low temperature experiment ( B≤20 T , T=4.2 K ). An excellent agreement between experimental and calculated data was achieved within the framework of the isolated ...

Intermediate-Spin State of a 3d Ion in the Octahedral Environment and Generalization of the Tanabe–Sugano Diagrams

open access: closedThe Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2011
Electronic spectra of 3d(n) transition ions in an octahedral ligand surrounding have been studied using the modified crystal field approach (MCFA), which includes a relativistic spin-orbital interaction. A new variable parameter, the effective nuclear charge Z(eff) of a metal ion that allows accounting implicitly the covalence degree of a metal-ligand ...
