High‐Entropy Materials for Water Splitting: An Atomic Nanoengineering Approach to Sustainable Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy materials (HEMs), typically composed of five or more principal elements in near‐equimolar ratios, offer significant potential due to their unique properties. This review outlines the emergence and structural evolution of HEMs, followed by an in‐depth discussion of the elemental roles (active sites, promoters, or stabilizers) for water ...

Memoir on the Theory of the Articulated Octahedron

open access: yes, 2012
Mr. C. Stephanos posed the following question in the Interm diaire des Math maticiens: "Do there exist polyhedra with invariant facets that are susceptible to an infinite family of transformations that only alter solid angles and dihedrals?" I announced, in the same Journal, a special concave octahedron possessing the required property.

Anchoring Unimolecular Metal Chloride as a Sterically Active Site for Conformal Zinc Electrodeposition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An octahedrally coordinated MnCl2N4 structure anchored on hard carbon tailors the electronic environment of single atoms to lower zinc nucleation barriers. Chloride‐assisted Zn adsorption with Jahn‐Teller distortion and residual Zn enables reduced overpotential.

Synthesis and Electrochemistry of Stacking Fault‐Free β‐NaMnO2

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An inherent tendency to form intergrown stacking faults in corrugated layered β‐NaMnO2 hinders the understanding of its structural transition during electrochemical reaction. The synthesis of fault‐free β‐NaMnO2 unveils in‐plane sliding of corrugated MnO2 as well as excellent capacity retention in Na cells, providing a strategy to exploit Mn‐based ...
