Resultados de los potenciales evocados miogénicos vestibulares en el vértigo posicional paroxístico benigno [PDF]
Objective: Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) seems to occur because of otoconia migration into the semicircular canals or their adherence to the cupula.

Evidence-based diagnostic use of VEMPs [PDF]
BACKGROUND Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) are increasingly being used for testing otolith organ function. OBJECTIVE This article provides an overview of the anatomical, biomechanical and neurophysiological principles underlying the ...

ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the impact of balance and dizziness problems (BDP) and other risk factors on falls in a longitudinal, population‐based cohort of older adults. Methods The Age, Gene/Environment Susceptibility‐Reykjavik Study (AGES‐RS I) 2002–2006 examined 5764 adults aged 66–98. Five years later, 3316 surviving subjects were reexamined

An animal model of ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential in guinea pigs
This study aimed to establish an animal model of ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) in guinea pigs. Ten healthy and 10 gentamicin-treated guinea pigs underwent oVEMP test using a hand-held bone-conducted vibrator placed on the animal's forehead. All 10 healthy animals exhibited bilateral oVEMPs at the stimulus intensity of 139 dB force

Rotational chair testing: "To rotate, or not to rotate, that is the real question" [PDF]
Passive whole body rotation tests are widely considered to be the ‘gold standard’ for the identification of bilateral peripheral vestibular disorders (bPVD), but also have a part to play in identifying unilateral disorders (uPVD). In this article Paul
