Genetic Changes in Sporadic Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumors (Odontogenic Keratocysts)
Journal of Dental Research, 2007Little is known about the genetic background of keratocystic odontogenic tumors (KCOT, odontogenic keratocysts). Our aim was to characterize genomic aberrations in sporadic KCOT using cDNA-expression arrays and array-comparative genomic hybridization. For cDNA-expression arrays, 10 KCOT specimens and 20 fetal tooth germs were studied.

MELANOCYTES IN ODONTOGENIC KERATOCYST
Acta Pathologica Japonica, 1985Melanocytes in odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) were studied histopath‐ologically. As a result, melanocytes were observed within the basal layer of lining epithelium in five of 47 cases with OKC, with the overall prevalence being 10.6 per cent. Although no conclusion could be drawn from the present examination as to the origin of melanocytes in OKC, its ...

Abstract The solitary keratocyst must be differentiated from multiple keratocysts. Its origin is still in doubt, but it should be regarded as a separate entity. Its recurrence rate is high. A case of solitary odontogenic keratocyst is presented; the literature is reviewed; the abnormalities, treatment, and significance of the lesion are discussed.

Surgical conservative approach of odontogenic keratocyst tumor of the jaws.
Minerva Stomatologica, 2020OBJECTIVE Odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) can be classified as an oral lesion representing the third most common cyst of the jaws characterized by a high rate of recurrence.

Odontogenic keratocysts manifest themselves as radiolucencies that can appear anywhere in the maxilla or mandible, including periradicular areas; they may thus masquerade as lesions of endodontic origin. This retrospective study examined 239 odontogenic keratocysts received by the Oral Pathology Laboratory at Temple University School of Medicine over a

The Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumor
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America, 2013In 2005, the World Health Organization renamed the lesion previously known as an odontogenic keratocyst as the keratocystic odontogenic tumor. The clinical features associated with the keratocystic odontogenic tumor show it to be a unilocular or multilocular radiolucency, occurring most frequently in the posterior mandible.

The history of the odontogenic keratocyst
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America, 2003Keratinization can occur in the lining of many different types of dental cysts, but there is a specific type in which the keratin is predominantly of the parakeratinizing variety. These cysts are found most commonlyattheanglesofthemandible, andtheyhave a higher recurrence rate than other types of cysts.

Odontogenic Keratocysts in the Pediatric Population
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1996To review the characteristics and treatment of odontogenic keratocysts in the pediatric population at our institution in light of a comprehensive literature review of odontogenic keratocysts in the general population in the hope of elucidating clinical, radiological, or pathological factors that would suggest a different therapeutic approach to ...
