Behavioral responses of black bears to human presence and infrastructure in Yosemite National Park
The Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 6, August 2026.Using GPS collar data from black bears in Yosemite National Park, we examined how bear spatiotemporal activity in relation to human development shifted during the COVID‐19 park closure in 2020. In the absence of visitors, bears maintained consistent landscape‐scale space use but altered fine‐scale spatial and temporal behaviors.

Dissection and Engineering of Modular Polyketide Synthase Extender Unit Specificity Motifs
ChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.Motif‐level engineering of acyltransferase domains in polyketide synthases enables programable extender unit selectivity. Cooperative mutations and motif exchanges reprogram substrate preference, enabling the incorporation of non‐native extender units and expanding polyketide structural diversity, with gains in activity and product yield.

Solvent‐, Catalyst‐, and Heating‐Free Mechanochemical Depolymerization of Polyurethane
ChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.A sustainable mechanochemical strategy is developed for polyurethane depolymerization under ambient conditions using only NaOH. Ball milling enables efficient urethane bond cleavage, allowing up to 69% polyol recovery from commercial PU foams within 3 h. This energy‐efficient approach offers a novel route for polyurethane recycling.

Advanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 58, 20 July 2026.Clusterization‐triggered emission is realized in dilute aqueous solution by introducing imine linkages into cellulose‐based luminophores. Imine functionalization creates O/N‐rich, hydrogen‐bonded clustered microenvironments that stabilize emissive states and restrict molecular motions. Luminescence is tunable by amine type and multiplicity.
