Chemical Constituents of the Deep‐Sea‐Derived Fungus Talaromyces wortmannii and Their Ferroptosis Inhibitory Activity

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
One new tyramine derivative (1) and 28 known compounds (2–29) were isolated from deep‐sea‐derived fungus Talaromyces wortmannii. Their structures were elucidated by NMR/MS and computational calculations. Compounds 2 and 6 potently inhibited ferroptosis with EC5₀ values of 4.52 and 13.73 µM.

Flavasperfurans A and B, Two New Asperfuran Derivatives From the Marine‐Derived Fungus Aspergillus flavus

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
Two new asperfurans (1 and 2) and 23 known compounds from marine Aspergillus flavus were characterized by NMR, HRESIMS, DP4+, and ECD. Asperfuran (3) potently inhibited RSL3‐induced ferroptosis (EC50 = 0.81 µM). ABSTRACT Marine microorganisms represent a prolific reservoir of chemically diverse natural products endowed with considerable therapeutic ...

Protein‐Stabilized Copper Nanoclusters for Microbial Inhibition‐Enabled Fresh Produce Preservation and Pesticide Removal

open access: yescMat, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
Biocompatible bovine serum albumin‐stabilized copper nanoclusters (Cu@BSA NCs) were engineered to integrate potent antimicrobial activity with efficient pesticide adsorption. The dual mechanism, involving Cu species/ROS‐mediated microbial inactivation and BSA‐facilitated pesticide capture, enables simultaneous extension of fresh produce shelf‐life by ≥

A Step‐by‐Step Guide to Successful Multiparametric Microbiota Flow Cytometry

open access: yesCurrent Protocols, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The role of the human microbiota in host health is an important area of research. Conventional characterization of the complex microbial communities colonizing the human body is primarily performed using culture‐based or high‐throughput sequencing approaches, which have improved general understanding yet lack cellular features relevant for ...

Airborne Virus Shedding of Respiratory Syncytial Virus Compared to Influenza A Virus in Hospitalized Patients

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Airborne transmission is an important route for the spread of respiratory viruses. To assess the potential for airborne shedding of influenza A virus (IAV) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), this study compared the presence of viral RNA in air samples collected near hospitalized patients.

Calcium, methyl jasmonate and their combined foliar applications: Influence on Tempranillo grape amino acids composition over two seasons

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 12, Page 7380-7396, September 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Climate change is currently affecting chemical grape composition and, consequently, grape quality. The foliar application of biostimulants has emerged as a promising approach to mitigate these effects. This study investigated the effects of foliar applications of calcium (Ca), methyl jasmonate (MeJ), and their combination (Ca + MeJ)

Living Biohybrid Hydrogels for Co‐Delivery of Oxygen, Anti‐Cancer Drugs, and Probiotics: Effects on Cancer and Healthy Cell Viability

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 26, Issue 9, September 2026.
A probiotic‐enriched BioHybrid hydrogel that provides sustained O2, probiotic metabolites, and pH‐responsive anti‐cancer drug is reported. This BioHybrid hydrogel promotes healthy cell viability while reducing ROS and decreases cancer cell viability while increasing ROS under hypoxia conditions. The co‐administration of O2, metabolites, and drug from a
