Newborns’ Brains Detect Foreign Rhythm in Native‐Language Speech

open access: yesDevelopmental Science, Volume 29, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Humans begin tuning in to the prosody of their native language even before birth. Previous studies with newborns have reported language‐specific processing of forward versus backward speech and of intonational contours, as well as sensitivity to iambic versus trochaic patterns in non‐linguistic tone stimuli.

Total Ozone Reactivity Measurements Reveal Knowledge Gap in Volatile Organic Compound Emissions and Their Reactions

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 15, 16 August 2026.
Abstract Total ozone (O3) reactivity monitors (TORMs) were used to investigate biogenic volatile organic compound (BVOC) emissions from several ecosystems. Measurements were conducted in temperate deciduous North American forests, during the CABINEX and SOAS campaigns, on tundra vegetation emissions at Toolik lake field station (TFS) in Alaska, and in ...

Tuning Mechanoreceptor Signaling Enhances the Adjuvant Effect of Biomaterial Vaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 66, 17 August 2026.
Matrix stiffness serves as an independent immunological signal in biomaterial vaccines. Stiffer microporous hydrogel vaccines enhance dendritic cell maturation and migration to draining lymph nodes, promote T follicular helper cell expansion through Yap/Taz signaling, and increase antigen‐specific antibody production.

3D‐Nanoprinted Fluidically Steerable Soft Robotic Microcatheters

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, Volume 2, Issue 4, August 2026.
This work introduces a ∼3‐French (1 mm‐in‐diameter) soft robotic microcatheter fabricated by means of two‐photon direct laser writing. The 3D‐printed microcatheter enables remote, on‐demand steering via microfluidic actuation for guidewire‐free navigation of vascular networks as well as microcatheter‐mediated delivery of fluidic payloads to target ...

A Triple‐Nanoparticle System for Controlled Graphene Nanosheet Stacking: Enabling K/Na‐Ion Battery Anodes with Ultra‐Fast Charging Exceeding Petroleum Vehicle Refueling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
ABSTRACT Large‐ion (K, Na) battery systems mitigate uneven global lithium distribution, while their ability to attain recharge time shorter than refueling would remove the final barrier for secondary batteries to replace petroleum vehicles. However, their large‐ion chemistry makes ultra‐fast charging an even significant challenge.

Photocatalytic Synthesis of Pentafluorosulfanyl Ketones, Acetals, and BCP Motifs Utilizing SF6

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
A photocatalytic single electron reduction strategy is reported for the activation and valorization of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), a potent greenhouse gas. Under mild conditions, SF6 is reduced to generate pentafluorosulfanyl (SF5) radicals, enabling direct access to pentafluorosulfanyl ketones, acetals, and BCP motifs.

Pathogenic PF4/Polyanion ELISA‐Negative Antibodies in HIT

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 8, Page 1790-1798, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Platelet factor 4‐polyanion enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) are considered highly sensitive for diagnosing heparin‐induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), such that current practice guidelines recommend use of ELISA‐negative results to exclude HIT.
