Enhanced Endoscopic Internal Drainage of Gastric Abscess Through Additively Manufactured Stents

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Postoperative gastric leaks are often treated with off‐label biliary double‐pigtail stents, yet conventional extruded designs are not optimized for leak anatomy, can migrate, and may limit abscess evacuation. PETALS is introduced to optimize transmural drainage geometry and enable patient‐specific 3D‐printable stents.

A meeting report: cross-cultural comparability of questionnaire measures in large-scale international surveys

open access: yesMeasurement Instruments for the Social Sciences, 2019
The value of cross-country comparisons is at the heart of large-scale international surveys. Yet the validity of such comparisons is often challenged, particularly in the case of latent traits whose estimates are based on self-reported answers to a small

Systems practice and the design of learning systems: orchestrating an ecological conversation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Human beings live in language and only they can take responsibility for how they think and act. So what understandings of response are possible? The relationship between responsibility and response-abilty is explored in the light of emerging critiques of

Diversity of Pharmaceuticals Enhances Antibiotic Resistance in the Invertebrate Gut via Biofilm‐Mediated Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pharmaceutical diversity acts as an independent driver of antibiotic resistance in soil invertebrates. While bulk soil remains unaffected, the collembolan gut microbiome exhibits significant resistance gene enrichment under complex chemical exposure and diurnal warming.

Conceptualising quality early childhood education: Learning from young children in Brazil and South Africa through creative and play‐based methods

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Early childhood has increasingly been acknowledged as a vital time for all children. Inclusive and quality education is part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with the further specification that all children have access to quality pre‐primary education.

Climate Action Impacts on Steelmaking Emissions of Persistent Organic Pollutants Highlight a Gap Between the Paris Agreement and the Stockholm Convention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Emissions of unintentionally produced persistent organic pollutants (UPOPs) and global warming are two major environmental challenges. But their governance has largely evolved in parallel, leaving the toxicity implications of climate‐driven industrial transitions poorly understood.

Functional Mapping of Neurodevelopmental Disease Pathways to Key Neurodevelopmental Processes Represented in the Developmental Neurotoxicity In Vitro Testing Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human‐relevant methods are essential for modern chemical safety assessment. This study helps define the capabilities and boundaries of an in vitro testing battery for developmental neurotoxicity by exploring its biological applicability domain. By linking neurodevelopmental disease‐related pathways to key neurodevelopmental processes, the work enhances
