Journal of Medical Entomology, 1999Microanatomical characteristics and the size of the ovaries of Oestrus ovis L. during development were related to the intrapuparial-phenological stadia. Mature 3rd instars were collected from the head cavities of slaughtered goats, and pupae were reared under laboratory conditions.

CONJUNCTIVAL MYIASIS DUE TO OESTRUS OVIS
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1942The American literature does not contain many references to conjunctival infestation with larvae of the sheep gadfly. There are a fairly large number of reported cases in foreign publications. Serious consequences are apparently infrequent, and this is likely one reason no more cases are reported.

Enfermedades infecciosas y microbiologia clinica, 1993Microbiologic diagnosis of conjunctival ophthalmomyiasis.Material extracted from three patients' conjunctiva who complained of sudden presence of foreign body and were diagnosed as conjunctival ophthalmomyiasis has been studied. Patients were recruited over two months from the Emergency Department.
