Phylogenomics and the evolution of larval feeding habits in the blow flies (Diptera: Calliphoridae)

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
Phylogenomic data from anchored hybrid enrichment provide a new phylogeny of Calliphoridae that delimits the family and confirms division into eight monophyletic subfamilies. Fossil‐calibrated divergence times place the origin of Calliphoridae in the mid‐Eocene (ca. 41 Mya) along with other rapidly radiating families of oestroid Diptera. Reconstruction

Advice on animal and public health risks of insects reared on former foodstuffs as raw material for animal feed

open access: yesFood Risk Assess Europe, Volume 4, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract In the coming decades, there is expected to be a sharply increased demand for dietary proteins for humans and animals. As a result, there is an increasing focus on reared insects as a new source of protein. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), the use of food chain residual flows such as former foodstuffs as

Genomic Insights into the Origin, High Fecundity and Environmental Adaptation of Hu Sheep

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 37, October 6, 2025.
The Hu sheep diverged from the Small‐tailed Han sheep ≈1330 years ago, and subsequently migrated from northern to warm and humid southern regions. The genes BMPR1B, UNC5C, and GRID2 play a synergistic role in the superior reproductive traits of Hu sheep.

Generalidades de Oestrus ovis: revisión bibliográfica

open access: yesRevista Veterinaria, 2021

Tracing and Capturing the Epiblast Pluripotency of Sheep Preimplantation Embryos

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 36, September 25, 2025.
This study performs a comprehensive single‐cell transcriptome analysis of sheep embryos from embryonic (E) day 1 to E14 to elucidate the mechanism of early lineage specification and the pluripotency changes (naïve, formative, and primed) of epiblast.

Molecular Method Based on Hydrolysis Probe Assays to Identify the Sex Chromosomes of Iberian Desman (Galemys pyrenaicus) Using Non‐Invasive Sampling

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, Volume 20, Issue 5, Page 1047-1055, September 2025.
To monitor populations of an endangered species such as Galemys pyrenaicus in the Extremadura area, qPCR techniques have been used to determine sex, using non‐invasive sampling techniques. ABSTRACT Desmans belong to the subfamily Desmaninae, which are members of the family Talpidae.

Staying Alive: Individual Behavioral Variation Influences Survival, but Not Reproductive Success, in Female Group‐Living Ground Squirrels

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
We investigated how individual behavioural traits—docility and boldness—affect survival and reproductive success in female Cape ground squirrels over a ten‐year period. While both traits influenced survival, with more docile and bolder individuals showing higher annual survival, neither trait predicted reproductive success.
