Symbol detection using extreme learning machine network for MU‐SIMO systems

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 183-196, January 2023., 2023
Abstract This paper focuses on symbol detection for a multi‐user single‐input multiple‐output (MU‐SIMO) uplink using supervised machine learning techniques. An extreme learning machine (ELM) is chosen as the equalizer at the receiver end due to its super‐fast learning ability and minimum training error.

Performance evaluation of cognitive relay networks for end user mobile over mixed realistic channels

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 228-245, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Cognitive relay network is a spectrum dynamic paradigm that exploits the unused portions of the licensed spectrum. This is based on merging both cooperative relaying techniques and cognitive radio network to achieve spectrum efficiency and enhance the overall system performance.

Communication, sensing, computing and energy harvesting in smart cities

open access: yesIET Smart Cities, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 265-274, December 2022., 2022
Abstract A smart city provides diverse services based on real‐time data obtained from different devices deployed in urban areas. These devices are largely battery‐powered and widely placed. Therefore, providing continuous energy to these devices and ensuring their efficient sensing and communications are critical for the wide deployment of smart cities.

Spectrum-Efficient Triple-Layer Hybrid Optical OFDM for IM/DD-Based Optical Wireless Communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, a triple-layer hybrid optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (THO-OFDM) for intensity modulation with direct detection (IM/DD) systems with a high spectral efficiency is proposed.

Multiple-Input Multiple-Output OFDM with Index Modulation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, vol. 22, no. 12, pp. 2259-2263, 2015, 2015
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (OFDM-IM) is a novel multicarrier transmission technique which has been proposed as an alternative to classical OFDM. The main idea of OFDM-IM is the use of the indices of the active subcarriers in an OFDM system as an additional source of information.

Fast Convergence and Reduced Complexity Receiver Design for LDS-OFDM System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Low density signature for OFDM (LDS-OFDM) is able to achieve satisfactory performance in overloaded conditions, but the existing LDS-OFDM has the drawback of slow convergence rate for multiuser detection (MUD) and high receiver complexity.

Feasibility Study of OFDM-MFSK Modulation Scheme for Smart Metering Technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing based M-ary Frequency Shift Keying (OFDM-MFSK) is a noncoherent modulation scheme which merges MFSK with the OFDM waveform.

Adaptive spatial mode of space-time and spacefrequency OFDM system over fading channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we present a 2 transmit 1 receive (1 Tx : 1 Rx) adaptive spatial mode (ASM) of space-time (ST) and space-frequency (SF) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). At low signal to noise ratio (SNR) we employ ST-OFDM and switch to

Maximum likelihood based estimation of frequency and phase offset in DCT OFDM systems under non-circular transmissions: algorithms, analysis and comparisons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Recently, the advantages of the discrete cosine transform (DCT) based orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) have come to the light. We thus consider DCT- OFDM with non-circular transmission (our results cover circular transmission as well ...
