A Submesoscale Cascade‐Driven Mesoscale Seasonal Cycle in the Subtropics

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract We show that the submesoscale inverse cascade almost entirely drives the mesoscale kinetic energy (KE) seasonal cycle in the interior subtropical gyre. Using a coarse‐graining framework to diagnose cross‐scale energy fluxes (Πh ${{\Pi }}_{h}$), we show the forward cascade remains confined to <20 km within the mixed layer, peaking January–March.

Data Management of Confidential Data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Curation, 2013
Social science researchers increasingly make use of data that is confidential because it contains linkages to the identities of people, corporations, etc. The value of this data lies in the ability to join the identifiable entities with external data, such as genome data, geospatial information, and the like.

Experimental and Thermodynamic Modeling Study of Phase Equilibria in the FeO–Fe2O3–SnO–SnO2–SiO2 System

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Experimental investigation and thermodynamic modeling of the phase equilibria in the FeO–Fe2O3–SnO–SnO2–SiO2 system have been undertaken to characterize Sn behavior in iron silicate slags for recycling of waste electrical and electronic materials (WEEE) through black copper process.

Decadal Variability of Eddy Kinetic Energy Along the Eastern Boundary of the Subtropical South Indian Ocean

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract Using more than three decades (1993–2024) of satellite altimetry and ocean reanalysis, we reassess the dominant timescales of low‐frequency mesoscale eddy variability along the eastern boundary of the subtropical South Indian Ocean. After removal of the seasonal cycle, eddy kinetic energy (EKE) is primarily modulated on decadal timescales (8 ...

Bell inequality for arbitrary many settings of the analyzers

open access: yes, 1999
A generalization of the CHSH-Bell inequality to arbitrary many settings is presented. The singlet state of two spin $\half$ violates this inequality for all numbers of setting.

Unveiling the Competitive Dynamics of Indo‐Pacific Forcings in Shaping the Interannual Variability of Indonesian Throughflow Inflow Channels

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Quantifying the relative importance of El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) in shaping the spatial structure of the Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) is crucial for climate predictability. However, different climate modes often work together, and single data and conventional methods cannot uncover their relative effects.

Prevalence of strong bottom currents in the greater Agulhas system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Deep current meter data and output from two high-resolution global ocean circulation models are used to determine the prevalence and location of strong bottom currents in the greater Agulhas Current system.

Functional Data Analysis of Dynamic PET Data [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Statistical Association, 2018
One application of positron emission tomography (PET), a nuclear imaging technique, in neuroscience involves in vivo estimation of the density of various proteins (often, neuroreceptors) in the brain. PET scanning begins with the injection of a radiolabeled tracer that binds preferentially to the target protein; tracer molecules are then continuously ...

Critical ‘Outsider’ Reflections on Research‐Initiated Pacific Partner Engagement

open access: yesAsia Pacific Viewpoint, Volume 67, Issue 1, Page 104-108, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Learning with Pacific stakeholders requires genuine people‐to‐people engagement and understanding of differing literacies and ways of being. Co‐learning is possible when people authentically meet in spaces of mutuality, such as those characterised by shared hospitality.

Short‐Term Effect of Different Agronomic Managements on Soil Carbon Fractions Content

open access: yesSoil Use and Management, Volume 42, Issue 2, April‐June 2026.
ABSTRACT This research investigates the short‐term impact of different agricultural management strategies on soil organic matter (SOM), focusing on particulate organic matter (POM) and mineral‐associated organic matter (MAOM). The study assessed the effects of organic fertilisation (compost vs.
