At the moment about 1.7 billion people worldwide do not have access to electricity. 80% of them live in rural regions.[1] Off-grid photovoltaic (PV) technology holds a lot of possibilities for both the population of these regions cut off from the power grid and the PV industry. However, the current significance of off-grid PV is quite marginal.
