From Measuring Land Use Mix to Measuring Land Use Pattern -- New Methods for Assessing Land Use [PDF]
Land use mix is one of the central concepts in the urban planning field, though its measure has been found to have many fallacies. In this study, we propose multiple alternative methods to the Conventional Shannon Entropy land use mix index, which is generally employed to measure land use diversity.

3D B-mode ultrasound speckle reduction using deep learning for 3D registration applications [PDF]
Ultrasound (US) speckles are granular patterns which can impede image post-processing tasks, such as image segmentation and registration. Conventional filtering approaches are commonly used to remove US speckles, while their main drawback is long run-time in a 3D scenario.

The use of entropy to measure structural diversity [PDF]
In this paper entropy based methods are compared and used to measure structural diversity of an ensemble of 21 classifiers. This measure is mostly applied in ecology, whereby species counts are used as a measure of diversity. The measures used were Shannon entropy, Simpsons and the Berger Parker diversity indexes.

Religious affiliation, education and Internet use [PDF]
Using data from the General Social Survey, we measure the effect of education and Internet use on religious affiliation. We find that Internet use is associated with decreased probability of religious affiliation; for moderate use (2 or more hours per week) the odds ratio is 0.82 (CI 0.69--0.98, p=0.01).

Classifier comparison using precision [PDF]
New proposed models are often compared to state-of-the-art using statistical significance testing. Literature is scarce for classifier comparison using metrics other than accuracy. We present a survey of statistical methods that can be used for classifier comparison using precision, accounting for inter-precision correlation arising from use of same ...

NeRF-Feat: 6D Object Pose Estimation using Feature Rendering [PDF]
Object Pose Estimation is a crucial component in robotic grasping and augmented reality. Learning based approaches typically require training data from a highly accurate CAD model or labeled training data acquired using a complex setup. We address this by learning to estimate pose from weakly labeled data without a known CAD model.

Randomization Using Quasigroups, Hadamard and Number Theoretic Transforms [PDF]
This paper investigates the use of quasigroups, Hadamard transforms and Number Theoretic Transforms for use in sequence randomization. This can also be used to generate hash functions for sequence encryption.

The Quartic Public Key Transformation [PDF]
This paper presents the quartic public key transformation which can be used for public key applications if side information is also used. This extends an earlier work where the cubic transformation was similarly used. Such a transformation can be used in multiparty communications protocols.

A New Insight into Land Use Classification Based on Aggregated Mobile Phone Data [PDF]
Land use classification is essential for urban planning. Urban land use types can be differentiated either by their physical characteristics (such as reflectivity and texture) or social functions. Remote sensing techniques have been recognized as a vital method for urban land use classification because of their ability to capture the physical ...

A non-commutative algorithm for multiplying (7 $\times$ 7) matrices using 250 multiplications [PDF]
We present a non-commutative algorithm for multiplying (7x7) matrices using 250 multiplications and a non-commutative algorithm for multiplying (9x9) matrices using 520 multiplications. These algorithms are obtained using the same divide-and-conquer technique.
