Hemodynamic Significance of APEXCT Coronary Angiography Combined With Dynamic CT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging in Assessing Restenosis After Coronary Stenting

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the hemodynamic significance of in‐stent restenosis (ISR) by using a combined anatomical‐functional approach with photon‐counting CT coronary angiography (APEX‐CT CTA) and dynamic CT myocardial perfusion imaging (CT‐MPI). We prospectively enrolled 239 symptomatic patients at least 9 months after PCI.

SAFETY OF OFF-PUMP CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFTING IN PATIENTSWITH ACUTE CORONARY SYNDROME

open access: yesЕвразийский Кардиологический Журнал, 2019
Conventional on-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is associated with higher risk of complications and mortality.

Modified Sleep Apnea Severity Index and Cardiovascular Risk in CPAP‐Intolerant OSA Patients

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
The modified sleep apnea severity index (mSASI) combines patient anatomy, weight, sleep study metrics, and symptoms into a composite OSA index ranging from 1 (least severe) to 3 (most severe). Our study found that mSASI correlated better with baseline cardiovascular risk measured by the 5‐year Framingham Risk Score compared to the AHI.

N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide as a predictor of postoperative atrial fibrillation in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting patients

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
Objective Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is a common complication following off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study aims to assess whether elevated preoperative N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels can

Off-pump surgery for the poor ventricle? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Severely decreased ejection-fraction is an established risk-factor for worse outcome after cardiac surgery. We compare outcomes of off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) and on-pump CABG (ONCABG) in patients with severely compromised EF.

Exploratory Laparotomy After Routine Cardiac Surgery: Results From 17,000 Patients

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Exploratory laparotomy is rare after open‐heart surgery, and it was performed for gastrointestinal complications that occurred in the context of other severe postoperative complications. Several factors were associated with the need for exlap, including increasing age, pre‐existing renal and vascular disease, and pre‐ and post‐operative shock. ABSTRACT

Postoperative Sleep Interventions and Cardiac Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sleep disturbance is a common issue affecting nearly 78% of cardiothoracic postoperative patients. There are no systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluate the impact of sleep interventions within this population.
