Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Postoperative Blood Pressure Could Be a Modifiable Risk Factor for Acute Kidney Injury After Coronary Bypass Surgery

open access: yesHaseki Tıp Bülteni, 2020
Aim:Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication associated with coronary surgery. This study aims to define perioperative modifiable risk factors for AKI development. Methods:We prospectively observed perioperative parameters, laboratory tests, and

Graft patency after off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery is inferior even with identical heparinization protocols: results from the Danish On-pump Versus Off-pump Randomization Study (DOORS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Objective: To determine whether graft patency after on-pump and off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery is similar when performed using the same heparinization protocol.

Establishing an Apheresis Medicine Program in a Resource‐Constrained Setting: A 5‐Year Experience From Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Efficacy of on-pump versus off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting in early-stage renal impairment without dialysis therapy

open access: yesJournal of Medicine in Scientific Research, 2019
Background Coronary artery disease is the most common of the cardiovascular diseases that can be treated with coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery, with either on-pump or off-pump technique.

UNSTEADY VELOCITY PIV MEASUREMENTS AND 3D NUMERICAL CALCULATION COMPATISONS INSIDE THE IMPELLER OF A RADIAL PUMP MODEL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
PIV measurements were performed at mid hub section inside the impeller of a vaned diffuser pump model working with air. Several previous papers have already presented part of impeller flow characteristics mainly for vaneless diffuser and near nominal ...

Source, triggers and clinical implications of hyperlactemia in patients undergoing mitral valve surgery using Custodiol cardioplegia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Postoperative blood hyperlactaemia is an indicator of organ anaerobic metabolism and is associated with morbidity after cardiac surgery. This prospective study aims to explore the source, triggers and clinical implications for hyperlactaemia in patients ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Effects of off-pump versus on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting: Apoptosis, ınflammation, and oxidative stress

open access: yes, 2014
Background: It has been suggested that off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery reduces myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, postoperative systemic inflammatory response, and oxidative stress.
