Autonomous Navigation of Pollen‐Inspired Magnetic Microrobots for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A sunflower pollen‐inspired magnetic microrobot enables controlled rolling navigation in vessel‐like environments. Its open geometry reduces hydrodynamic drag, while vision‐based closed‐loop control, shortest‐path planning, and reinforcement learning support target‐reaching and maze navigation with microrobot‐scale accuracy, highlighting a route toward

Human‐Scale Rotating Magnetic Field Delivery With Permanent Magnets Under Anatomic and Robotic Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Rotating magnetic fields (RMFs) are widely used for microrobot propulsion and control. We show that RMF generation with permanent magnets is mechanically feasible for many limb and intracranial applications but becomes constrained for thoracic targets.

Stromal‐Derived IL‐8 Promotes M2 Macrophage Polarization via the RhoA/MRTF‐A/SRF Transcriptional Axis to Impair CD8+ T Cell Cytotoxicity in Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the recondite pulmonary neoplastic milieu, DESMIN+ cancer‐associated fibroblasts function as the paramount stromal source of IL‐8, precipitating a deleterious immunological metamorphosis by engaging CXCR2 receptors on the myeloid lineage. This paracrine stimulus triggers a mechanotransduction cascade characterized by RhoA‐dependent actin ...

Perivascular Matrix Densification Dysregulates Angiogenesis and Activates Pro‐Inflammatory Endothelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Perivascular matrix densification promotes the emergence of aberrant endothelial tip cells (ATECs) that invade and persist within fibrotic microenvironments. Using in vivo lineage tracing and a human microvessel model, this study shows that fibrous matrix cues destabilize VE‐cadherin–mediated junctions to gate TGF‐β signaling, inducing a pro ...

Associations of office brachial blood pressure, office central blood pressure, and home brachial blood pressure with arterial stiffness

Blood Pressure Monitoring, 2022
Accurate blood pressure (BP) measurement is necessary for the evaluation and treatment of hypertension to prevent the progression of subclinical vascular disease, including arterial stiffness. We investigated the associations between brachial–ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), a measure of arterial stiffness, and each of office brachial systolic BP ...

Automated Office Blood Pressure

Canadian Journal of Cardiology, 2012
Manual blood pressure (BP) is gradually disappearing from clinical practice with the mercury sphygmomanometer now considered to be an environmental hazard. Manual BP is also subject to measurement error on the part of the physician/nurse and patient-related anxiety which can result in poor quality BP measurements and office-induced (white coat ...

Automated office blood pressure—the preferred method for recording blood pressure

Journal of the American Society of Hypertension, 2016
• Manual office BP is subject to human factors which lead to inaccurate readings and a white coat effect.

Office and out-of-office blood pressure measurement in children and adolescents

Blood Pressure Monitoring, 2004
Office and out-of-office blood pressure measurements are being used for the diagnosis of hypertension in children and adolescents. The US National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute have recently presented a new classification of blood pressure. On the basis of office measurements the 90th, 95th and 99th percentile for gender, age and height are used to ...

Reliability of single office blood pressure measurements

Heart, 2018
ObjectivesStandard operating procedures for office blood pressure measurement (OBPM) vary greatly between guidelines and studies. We aimed to compare the difference between a single OBPM and the mean of the three following measurements. Further, we studied how many patients with possible hypertension may be missed due to short-term masked hypertension (
