Modeling jet and outflow feedback during star cluster formation [PDF]
Powerful jets and outflows are launched from the protostellar disks around newborn stars. These outflows carry enough mass and momentum to transform the structure of their parent molecular cloud and to potentially control star formation itself.

Glacier melting alters algae production in fjords, impacting fish like Arctic char. Using isotopic tools, we found that in Southern Greenland fjords, where glaciers are rapidly retreating, Arctic char in glacier‐fed inner fjords grow larger, feed at a lower trophic level, and accumulate more nutritious molecules.

We study rapidly accreting, gravitationally unstable disks with a series of global, three dimensional, numerical experiments using the code ORION. In this paper we conduct a numerical parameter study focused on protostellar disks, and show that one can ...

The gopher tortoise is an ecosystem engineer threatened by loss and deficient management of its pineland habitats in the southeastern United States. To aid management, we investigated the factors governing growth of immature gopher tortoises and explored use of drone‐based imagery as a habitat assessment tool.

The collapse of weakly turbulent prestellar cores is a critical stage in the process of star formation. Being highly non-linear and stochastic, the outcome of collapse can only be explored theoretically by performing large ensembles of numerical ...

Optical Parametric Amplification in Crossed Fabry‐Perot Cavities
A Crossed‐Fabry‐Perot‐Cavity OPA (XOPA) scheme is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The pump‐to‐signal conversion efficiency of up to 56.28% and gain bandwidth of 120 nm are simultaneously achieved with signal pulses at 808 nm and pump 532 nm.

The Equilibrium Structure of Prolate Magnetized Molecular Cores
The structure of molecular cloud cores supported by thermal pressure and a poloidal magnetic field is reinvestigated in the magnetohydrostatic and axisymmetric approximation.

Revisiting the ecology and evolution of burying beetle behavior (Staphylinidae: Silphinae)
Burying beetles of the genus Nicrophorus are becoming a model system for the evolution of parental care. Investigating fundamental processes in biology requires the ability to ground broad questions in species‐specific natural history. Here, we leverage a developing community of researchers who have contributed to a detailed knowledge of burying ...

Abstract Background and aims Serum eye drops alleviate ocular symptoms of diseases such as sicca syndrome, or chronic graft‐versus‐host disease. This study was designed for good manufacturing practice validation of our standard manufacturing, storage and transport processes for both autologous and allogenic SEDs.

Simulations of protostellar collapse using multigroup radiation hydrodynamics. I. The first collapse
Radiative transfer plays a major role in the process of star formation. Many simulations of gravitational collapse of a cold gas cloud followed by the formation of a protostellar core use a grey treatment of radiative transfer coupled to the ...
