We determined that more isolated and possibly older nest boxes were selected by little penguins for breeding at Pōhatu/Flea Bay, New Zealand. However, breeding success was influenced by lay date in comparison to nest box characteristics. These findings inform immediate conservation recommendations regarding nest box design and placement.

Uncertainty assessment for a novel optically shallow water radiometric acquisition platform
Abstract We present a novel motorized platform, a custom‐built jet‐ski designed for acoustic and radiometric measurements in optically shallow coastal waters. This platform integrates in‐water radiometers with single‐beam and multi‐beam acoustic sensors, along with a suite of active and passive instruments (conductivity‐temperature‐depth, fluorescence,

A novel approach for in situ benthic habitat characterization
Abstract Habitat heterogeneity is a key driver of temporal and spatial variability of subtidal marine benthic biodiversity. However, this makes it a challenging environment in which to measure and quantify the factors driving biodiversity in a consistent manner.

The localized corrosion behavior of lean duplex stainless steel EN 1.4062 is systematically compared with austenitic and higher‐alloyed duplex grades in natural seawater. A clear resistance ranking is established, highlighting EN 1.4062 as a cost‐effective alternative for limited marine exposure.

Regulating offshore wind energy
Offshore wind has become a large component of the renewable energy ambitions of many coastal states. Whereas onshore wind energy has a large visual impact on the landscape, offshore wind farms have fewer problems of this nature. Although this technology has historically been more expensive than its onshore counterpart, the cost reductions are promising
