Resonance characteristics of offshore wind turbine structures founded on partially embedded pile groups

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
Resonance occurs when the first natural frequency of wind turbines coincides with frequencies of the rotor rotation and blade passing, which may cause damage to wind turbines in serious conditions.

Techno-economic comparison of renewable energy systems using multi-pole system analysis (MPSA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The recently published method of multi-pole system analysis (MPSA) is used to techno-economically compare two wind-energy converters: offshore wind turbines and the energy ship concept.

Physics‐Informed Bayesian Optimisation of Utility‐Scale Wind Farms in Synthetically Generated Complex Terrain Using LES

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Optimising turbine layouts to maximise power output is crucial for wind farm development, particularly in complex terrain where analytical wake models fail to capture key flow physics. We present the first application of Bayesian optimisation (BO) combined with large eddy simulations (LES) for utility‐scale wind farm layout optimisation in ...

Tinkering Towards Sustainability: Bundling Innovations to Electrify the Fossil‐Dependent Process Industry

open access: yesCreativity and Innovation Management, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 356-373, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Sustainability transitions, such as electrifying the process industry, require a bundle of related innovations to make meaningful progress. Drawing on literature on innovation through tinkering, that is, adaptive, typically small‐scale experimentation with various forms of innovation, and applying a micropolitical perspective, this qualitative

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 9, 6 May 2026.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Offshore Wind Turbines - Estimated Noise from Offshore Wind Turbine, Monhegan Island, Maine: Environmental Effects of Offshore Wind Energy Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Deep C Wind, a consortium headed by the University of Maine will test the first U.S. offshore wind platforms in 2012. In advance of final siting and permitting of the test turbines off Monhegan Island, residents of the island off Maine require reassurance that the noise levels from the test turbines will not disturb them.
