Application of Surrogate Modeling in Stochastic Analysis of an Ogee Spillway Structure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 290-311, June 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the hydraulic performance of an Ogee spillway under varying flow rate conditions, gate opening heights, and spillway widths. Numerical simulations using Flow‐3D, incorporating the (k‐ε) turbulence model and Large Eddy Simulation (LES), were employed alongside surrogate models using MATLAB codes and LP‐TAU to predict ...

Utilizing AI for the Identification and Validation of Novel Therapeutic Targets and Repurposed Drugs for Endometriosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, February 3, 2025.
Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory gynecological disease affecting over 190 million women globally, and no curative treatment is currently available. This study identifies two novel therapeutic targets (GBP2 and HCK) through an AI‐driven target discovery platform.

Influences of sedimentation on overflow properties of sharp-crested weir

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sediment Research
A sharp-crested weir is the simplest type of weir and is mainly used for discharge measurement in open channels. The surface profile of an ogee weir also is designed based on the lower nappe profile of the free jet passing over a sharp-crested weir.

The interplay of short‐term mesophyll and stomatal conductance responses under variable environmental conditions

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 47, Issue 9, Page 3393-3410, September 2024.
Abstract Understanding the short‐term responses of mesophyll conductance (gm) and stomatal conductance (gsc) to environmental changes remains a challenging yet central aspect of plant physiology. This review synthesises our current knowledge of these short‐term responses, which underpin CO2 diffusion within leaves.

Methylation entropy landscape of Chinese long‐lived individuals reveals lower epigenetic noise related to human healthy aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2024.
Wang et al. constructed high‐resolution methylation entropy (ME) maps in long‐lived individuals (LLIs) using WGBS data. It provides the evidence supporting that a large number of genomic regions, significantly enriched in promoters, displaying significantly lower ME in LLIs (LLI‐specific LERs) than normal aging people. Further analysis revealed a close

Tree water uptake patterns across the globe

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 242, Issue 5, Page 1891-1910, June 2024.
Summary Plant water uptake from the soil is a crucial element of the global hydrological cycle and essential for vegetation drought resilience. Yet, knowledge of how the distribution of water uptake depth (WUD) varies across species, climates, and seasons is scarce relative to our knowledge of aboveground plant functions.

Recent advances in the characterization of essential genes and development of a database of essential genes

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 3, Issue 1, February 2024.
Essential genes are indispensable for the survival and development of organisms, and have been successfully identified using various experimental methods across diverse organisms. DEG, a database of essential genes is dedicated to collecting experimental results on essential genes and has become one of the most commonly used tools for studying ...

Scrutiny of genome‐wide somatic mutation profiles in centenarians identifies the key genomic regions for human longevity

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2024.
By systematically analyzing the somatic mutation landscapes of 73 centenarians and 51 controls using whole genome sequencing, Wang et al. identified a number of genomic regions (viz., CSM‐FRs) that are free of any somatic mutations in the centenarians but are always mutated in the general older people.
